Reading titles going forward should be fine, very few contain spoilers, if any. I never really see this as a zombie story, but rather a homage to Bride of Frankenstein. This episode is one of the not very popular ones among the fandom, as a monster of the week type story, I enjoy it. As for your mentioned ships, keep watching, it's season 2, things happen.
