Shelved DVa Comic Dump (Patreon)
Content
Hey all!
So as part of this week's update post, I noted that I started and consequently decided to shelve a DVa/Sombra comic, which serves as a prequel to an on-stream video we've been kicking around for a while now. That project's working title is "Gamebang," with the premise being that DVa hosts a game tournament slash orgy / gangbang (hence the name - it's a pun).
The reason I am shelving it is that I feel the comic is getting away from me. Unlike my videos, I don't meticulously plan and edit these comics, for better or for worse. The upside to this is they allow for very rapid prototyping (all of this was put together in an evening, sans the model- and scene-work involved) and allows for a more natural and organic flow, since I literally build them by the seat of my pants. I have a general idea in mind and I just go.
The downside, of course, is that the ideas are entirely organic and unmoderated. I write them frame-by-frame, and if they spin off into a tangent, then they spin off into a tangent. Sometimes this works out, other times it doesn't.
In this comic's case, I think that not only is it dragging is feet, taking 30+ shots to get to the core idea I originally had, but I can already tell it's going to massively stretch out the original idea. And the original idea was already pretty light on content. Which is why I elected to make it a comic, rather than a video - comics have a far lower production cost, both in terms of time (maybe a week from start to finish) and money ($0 because no voicing and I do all the work myself), and so have much looser standards applied to them than I do videos, which need to justify months-long production times that cost in the high-triple-to-low-quadruple-digits.
As to reading the dump, it is a screen-recording because I use SFM's text tool to stub the comic itself. You can't export images with text, and I'm not going to meticulously screenshot them all and stitch them together for a dump. So you get a screen recording. Pause each frame to read it.
You can watch the full screen-capture here.
I've currently got my sights on another comic idea, but production hasn't started yet. Keep your eyes peeled! If next Thursday rolls around and it hasn't been posted yet, then I'll share what all I have as another Misc Bin-tier update.
That's all for now, everyone!
