These are multiple choice.

Glenn Y

Stargate! Top tier Space Sh*t!

cartoonrobot

So many good choices! I really hope at some point you get to Doctor Who. I want to rewatch. Again. 😁

M. Callari

Yes, more Non-Anime! Quite a few great choices here - Babylon 5 would be epic and mind blowing for you, but it is pretty obscure and unfortunately it likely won't get enough votes.

Jordan Sampson

SG-1 baby! You watch that, you've got 10 seasons and 200 episodes of subscription from me. :D Can't help but say I'm bummed Eureka didn't make it to the final poll. :( Such an underrated gem, even has Bear McCreary doing the music! Such a funny show with a lot of heart. Jack and Henry have such an amazing friend dynamic. Even get James Callis playing a character in the later seasons. :)

Anonymous

I like a lot of the choices on this list but Band of Brothers is nice because it's a single series. It's a nice palate cleanser between some of these series with multiple seasons.

Anonymous

Well, it doesn't have that much "space" shit. More like "alien-planets-that-look-like-the-same-place-near-Vancouver" shit. But it is still one of the best Sci-fi shit ever.

Anonymous

Altered Carbon 1st season is excellent, but no need to really see season 2 in my opinion. My opinion is best to leave it as a 1 season show.

Anonymous

Now Farscape is one of the best Sci-Fi shows ever.

Brina Blue

Some great Space Sh*t on the list! Farscape would be my pick based on that criteria, but both Babylon 5 and SG 1 are classics!

Anonymous

I was so happy to see Sense8 show up in the poll. I'm hoping we will get to it eventually. That show has so much heart.

Bernhard

Stargate SG-1 is enjoyable enough but not a show I ever wanted to rewatch. On this list I'd rate Babylon 5 and Farscape far above it.

Anonymous

The Magicians is my favorite show.

Brina Blue

I first watched Babylon 5 because my step dad had VHS box sets of every season having pride of place on top of his VHS shelves. I was forced to watch them when I visited, but then I started to beg to take home the tapes! It would be an excellent choice!

Anonymous

If you do watch Stargate SG-1, I recommend first watching Stargate the movie. The TV-show starts after the events of that one and is related.

Kayla Brunton

i was a percy jackson & harry potter kid growing up so seeing percy jackson being made into a tv show was INCREDIBLE and seeing it on the poll makes my heart happy :) it’s such a good show, and i think you would actually really enjoy it! it has so much heart, and the actors, being as young as they are, are absolutely amazing. I hope even if it doesn’t win, you’ll maybe react to it in between a bigger show! it is truly worth the watch

James Keller

Stargate SG-1 was my favorite show growing up. I'm astonished you would even consider it and it's 10 seasons. Loving all these polls.

Vexkun

Much as I love SG1 the cool space shit isn't till way later into the show and it's spin off. Still one of my favorites, and a great watch. Kinda long for a reactor (10+ seasons), if we never get on here, worth checking out on own time.

Anonymous

I feel like Community is easily the best sitcom ever. And it's a half hour show, 6 seasons (and hopefully a movie someday) that you can blow through. Great themed episodes as well.

Vexkun

Would love to get all three at some point! Along with BSG, those are my top favorites scifi!

Anonymous

Too bad Watchmen didn't make the list.

Vexkun

Once again a hard choice to pick one! When with Babylon 5, great story, characters and space shit!! Would love to see B5, Farscape, and SG1 at some point. All top teir scifi!! Would so stay sub forever with those. ;)

Walter

Love B5, love Farscape - I never watched SG-1. Honestly, I was never interested, but these comments are making me think I should reconsider

M. Callari

My 'Best SciFi" list would be 1-Expanse, 2-Babylon 5, 3-Farscape, 4-Stargates, 5-Battlestar

Dan Pettit

I love the show too, and cast my vote accordingly. But it doesn't look like we have the votes.

Kip 'Captain'

Babylon 5, farscape, and stargate are all great series. I would watch Farscape before season 9 of stargate. There are some funny references you'll miss if you dont. A short sci fi series I think you would like, even if you dont react to it, is Space: Above and Beyond. It's ALL space shit.

Anonymous

I hope it does get the votes at some, if not this time around. I haven't seen any other reactions to it.

M. Callari

Some great short 1-2 Season shows that would be fantastic "Palate Cleansers" could be Rome, Silo, Carnivale, Crash, Marco Polo, Messiah, Outer Range, Raised By Wolves, The White Queen, V (2009), The Riches, Watchmen.

Leenis

Ass always indeed. lol

Jack Mingle

SG-1 is a must.

Leenis

Or maybe you forgot a comma and were calling us asses? Like...."Ass, always please leave..." :P

Wade Wallenstein

Babylon 5 is one of my all time favorite TV shows. One fan loved it so much he wrote a "What If?" Fanfic for the whole series!

Merkavar

only downside to stargate I see is that its like 15 seasons and 4 movies if you include all the series and movies (there was no series called origins) It seems like a big commitment, so would only be a good idea if there was a lot of demand for it.

Chris Skalicky

As of right it's only SG-1 on the list so you're not counting the combined 7 seasons of Atlantis and Universe...and I almost don't count Universe anymore.

Boom Desjardins

Sooo much filler. Not even 1/4 of the episodes are related to the main plot, it's more planet of the week.

Chris Skalicky

But Farscape isn't a must for SG-1...just meta things. Nothing pertinent to the story.

Topher

Such and rich universe and even a fair amount of space shit eventually :)

Rabbid Dawg

Haha, there was a mention of multiple choice but I can only choose one! This is tough since there seems to be alot of love for the space setting and I'd hate to derail it, but Squid Game and the Bear would have my votes. I gotta see some drama brought down on Earth and have humans facing humans facing present day problems. I'm mostly saying this because I haven't seen the top choices, but also because I really do think those two series are really good! The stories are focused on people just trying to get by and interpersonal relationships and while I'm sure the very same narratives are well done in space, they're done really well back home too ;) I'm being a tad on the nose, but I really enjoyed Squid Games and The Bear and hope more get to too! As an aside, if there was ever any interest in video games/streaming or just recording/editing a playthrough, the Mass Effect trilogy couldn't be more perfect for funnylilgalreacts. I'm only putting it out into the universe so it could magically manifest in some way (haha, its just wishful thinking), but ever since the merch drop I couldnt stop thinking how perfect that trilogy would target this channel's current interests and how primed the narrative is for reaction content. Now to scramble a way to magically transform a portion of the channel to a streaming platform, help her with a setup and grant her the ability to play games like a pro. Ez pz, win win for everyone ;) I'm simply a sucker for science fiction rpgs and just wanted to share some love here.

Anonymous

Also seems to perform well for other channels! If it doesn’t win I really hope she watches it at some point regardless.

Anonymous

B5 is probably the best written sci/fi show ever, great character arcs and some amazing space shit,

Vexkun

Poor Universe, the story was good, but the tone shift threw off a lot of fans.

Anonymous

Band of Brothers and Squid Game are quite short mini-series that are excellent and would be quick to knock out. Quick note: please watch Squid Game in Korean with subs, the English voices are atrocious. (FYI, I usually prefer dubs, but this is an exception.) SG-1 is absolutely amazing, but as everyone else is saying is 10 seasons so quite long. Finally, Community is my favorite sitcom of all time, and at 6 seasons (only a few being full 20 episodes) it also wouldn't take a long time to get through.

James Hubbard

The world needs even a single reactor to do Farscape. It is innovative S Tier sci-fi that should be required viewing for genre fans.

Christian Rennie

Same. B5 is so underrated. I was so into it as a teenager. If more people have watched it, then I bet it would get more votes. Plus it has that “space shit” factor Ang loves. 5 season space opera. Also, it has one of my fav scenes in TV of all time too.

Rabbid Dawg

Seconded on the subs for Squid Games! I think it was mentioned that dubs might be her preferred viewing experience moving forward, but hope this makes an exception if chosen - the Squid Games dub was extremely distracting.

Christian Rennie

Space Above and Beyond is pretty cool. Fav episode for me is Angriest Angel. Sad it got canceled without resolution.

Sarahnade

I'll be thrilled if SG1 wins. In my opinion it starts out real rough, but they find their characters and the stories get better. A fantastic ensemble.

Saphthings

God, I really want her to react to Stargate. Stargate is a whole new world like BSG and she'd understand so many references in so many things. But I'll be honest that Stargate and Babylon 5 reactions aren't the most sought after, I think. But my selfish side voted for them cuz I wanna see her reactions to stargate so bad!!! People saying Stargate is too long aren't wrong, but aren't wholly right either, because she just did 3 seasons of avatar and then 4 seasons of korra like within a year lol. She goes through series fast tbh.

Saphthings

Stargate, Farscape, Andromeda (kind of), Babylon 5 and BSG are sort of an era. It's like they were in a club so the shows reference one another. So now that she's seen BSG, it feels natural to do Farscape > Stargate. But i know for a fact, that since she loves Star Wars so much, Stargate would be amazing for her. It'd literally make my year so much cooler knowing I could rewatch it with the community lol. Without any spoilers, funnily enough it's best you watch Stargate, and then when you get to like season 6 start Farscape, so that you have finished Farscape by season 8-9. The experience is better watching them both almost concurrently or Farscape first bc of the inside jokes between the two shows.

Saphthings

Honestly the only reason I didn't vote for altered carbon is because I'd only be interested in season 1 lol

Saphthings

Every time I'm at Atlantis and then if I wanna rewatch I'm like "Oh right this is how it started" lol

Christian Rennie

I’m on board for Stargate, Babylon 5, and Band of Brothers. But a shout out to One Piece Live Action. It is only one season but totally worth it. Babylon 5 has some of the best writing for any TV show. It was presented as a five season whole so it is very tight. Once you start watching, you might start thinking about characters outside of the tv show. I am prepared SG1 long haul too.

Krieger

I am hoping for Band of Brothers and The Bear-

Krieger

Band of Brothers is short and leads into the other HBO wartime shows like the Pacific, Generation Kill, Masters of the Air. Since they are all miniseries, it is very easy to react to one and then come back to the next after another longer show in between. The Bear is just an excellent show with only two seasons, and it means that there won’t be the massive time commitment that stargate or dr. Who requires

Jay Sotho

Literally nobody knows what the magicians is it’s one of the most underrated tv shows ever, I’ve seen 3 ish reactors watch it and they only have done the first episode and that’s it 😭💔 It has some of the best world building and magic systems in any media honestly! Even if it doesn’t rank high you honestly should check it out at least the first episode to see if you’d like it!

Jay Sotho

It’s never gonna win a rank poll considering nobody knows it really exists 😞 Syfy really sucked at marketing their tv show

Saphthings

Looking at the list it's like the list has 3 sections. Spoiler-Free. ----------------- List 1, (Quick miniseries/short seasons you can watch in between a bigger show): - One Piece (1 season, trending) - Squid Game (1 season, possible sequel in works, trendy) - Altered Carbon (Same viewership as The Expanse, 2 Seasons but really everyone just wants season 1, so expect drop in views in season 2) - Percy Jackson (1 season, trendy) - Band of Brothers (1 season, niche but people search for it) - The Bear (2 seasons, trendy) ------------------ List 2, (Big commitments and would be a main staple for a while): - Doctor Who (Infinite seasons, problem is each new doctor changes viewership, so unpredictable, views will fluctuate a lot) - Stargate: 15+ Seasons (After SG-1, Atlantis is mandatory/continues story, and there are movies. Viewership is medium, but constant and will stay about the same for all seasons, at about same # views you get in Expanse) ------------------ List 3, (Medium Commitments, about 5-6 seasons, like BSG or ATLA/LOK length) - Farscape: 5 Seasons (Rare reaction, might draw more than expected, might not). - Lucifer: 6 Seasons (Same community and views as Sandman) - Community: 6 Seasons (Has it's own viewers, usually go well together with The Office and The Good Place as shows to follow up with) - Peaky Blinders: 6 Seasons (It's own viewers too) ------------------- For math reasons your average is about 4 seasons in 6 months. So: List 1 you can do the entire list in about 6 months. List 2 each show will take about almost 2 years. List 3 will take about 8-9 months per series. So you can use list 1 to take some breaks too, record them ahead of time and then drop them on youtube/etc edited when you wanna take a break or life! I will say that if you start Farscape/Stargate/Babylon 5 your channel is about to draw a whole new group of people. Cuz those are all in a nerdy bubble. That group eventually moved into BSG/Expanse/Dark Matter and so on (which is why they're getting lots of votes, cuz your BSG/Expanse reactions drew us in! Lol), but some ppl didn't like the new generation of space sh*t so it'll tap into that.

Saphthings

***** SPOILERS ***** Who recommended Reacher to her xD I mean, sure there's some Eye Candy, but it's very much an "alpha murican mans" wet dream show lol. The kind where oh look there's a guy that beats his girlfriend, and here he comes and beats him up cuz hes a real man! That's pretty much the whole show, him going around beating up cliches and then sit back with his pew pews and be all manly. Does it actually get any deeper than that? Doesn't feel like her sort of show at all... It's like Strike Back, Rogue, Reacher, Jack Ryan. They're all the same to me o.o ***** SPOILERS*****

Lee Aguera

I really hope Band of Brothers clinches it, or at least top 3 to justify a watch. So many of those other shows are 5+ seasons, maybe a tv movie tie-in. They're big, month if not year long commitments. Its a big ask to start watching a show that ran for 10 years. BoB is 10 episodes. Functionally a half season of any other show. Even Firefly had more episodes.

sean

I commented in the wrong chat but I would love to see you react to “the good place”. I’m newer to the community so I’m not sure if it’s been suggested. Hope all is well!

Vexkun

Can 2nd B5/SG/Farscape will most likely draw more people here. That's how I got here. Saw the Firefly ones on Youtube, than saw you went into BSG. And here I am! :)

Rocky Hinten

Yes, Babylon 5 was my vote. It has that really well crafted long story arc that spans over the seasons, so they keep revealing a few more clues and details as you go along about the big picture story that is lurking. I think it's somewhat like BSG in that way. J. Michael Strazinski did a great job with having the five season arc planned out so the show doesn't feel like it gets lost and wanders around at some points like a lot of shows do.

Rocky Hinten

Farscape is incredible, and I would have to put it second, right behind Babylon 5.

Rocky Hinten

I only have a few episodes left to go in The Magicians. It is pretty good, but in a poll like this, up against these titans of sci-fi, nah, I can't do it.

M. Callari

SG:Universe was my favorite of the SG franchise. Much less "camp" than a lot of SciFi shows tend to have - which was why I like The Expanse so much I think.

Rocky Hinten

Yeah, I don't think it should win this poll, up against Farscape and Babylon 5, but Community is a must-watch at some point anyway.

Psychotic Panda

Rip the Percy Jackson dream :(

Anonymous

Well...one could make a solid case for ALL of them, very easy to see why they are pull winners. Band of Brothers is beautifully shot and the acting is incredible! With source material like that, how could it not be? Lucifer is just a fun romp. And I will ALWAYS be a fan of "The Dr." You have some great fun coming up!

Akito Senpai

Now we do have Lucifer in this one 😂

D Gyre

Yeah I think its very possible many of the Farscape/SG/B5 groups are already here because of Firefly or Expanse (or BSG now). For my part I'd be most interested in B5 and Altered Carbon, especially once BSG is done.

D Gyre

It was suggested in the chat, either didn't get enough support or she might have seen it already.

MertzRocks

Some R E A L L Y A M A Z I N G space shit!! That's not a spoiler right? :D Also, there have been so FEW creators who reacted / are reacting to it, I would really like to see an AWESOME creator like you Angela to react to this! Everything else Michael said is right; though maybe a few guest actors don't quite pull their weight. Still, any negatives are -imo- outweighed by the positives.

sean

Appreciate the response, plenty of time to get to it some day hopefully if she hasn’t seen it

MertzRocks

I have a few 'fave scenes of all time' from this show too, likely including yours :D It needs a really astute creator like Angela doing a reaction!

MertzRocks

I keep forgetting about that one. Need to see it again bc I hardly remember it, but I remember liking what I saw of it.

scott osborne

there are only 3 things on the list worth watching 1 band of brothers 2 stargate SG1 3 Lucifer all the rest are stupid dr who is boring trust me on that im english i seen it one piece its ok but not worth watching if you have not seen the anime squid games who the f wants to watch men and women get murdered for playing a game it promotes murder and i will never watch it if you want to watch it do it on your own time community why o why dont you think there is enough racism in the world and you want to watch more farscape thank god that is over i cant stand it and that is a lucky escape same for babylon 5 its even more stupid and i cant even be botherd to say anything about the last 4 items on the list

MertzRocks

B5 really set the standard for the multi-season story arc format. Joe wrote more than 90% of the episodes (which here and there show how strained he got writing basically the whole damn thing) and he did a great job. Without spoiling I hope, I'll say the actors were on three levels. The lowest tier was mostly but not all guest roles for one ep, and some were 'below par' imo. Middle was good actors, often playing multiple alien roles and very well, but with prosthetics they never look similar. Top tier was led by (but not limited to) Andreas and Mira and Peter and they were nothing short of STELLAR performances! Plus of course... S P A C E S H I T ! ! :D

MertzRocks

Heretic, Every border or rim planet in Firefly looked like Southern Cali - even part of Bellerophon did too... :D

MertzRocks

:o O M G Hate much??? Hate breeds. What does it breed? It breeds hate. You can have an opinion, but go hate somewhere else!

Lazzy

You're carrying a lot of anger in you, buddy. I think maybe it's unironically time to go touch grass.

Anonymous

The problem of Universe was, that it tried to copy BSG with all the drama between the characters. They had a great setting and a nice goal of finding the ancient "signal", but they concentrated on the wrong things imo. It started to get interesting again towards the end of the season. And then they left us hanging with one of the cruelest cliffhangers ever^^

Anonymous

All I see is 1,504 people who have not watched Farscape. For shame.

Hi, I am Hi.

"watch it in your own time" She is watching everything in her own time... We are just watching along

Lychee

Altered Carbon Season 1 was amazing despite some bizarre changes to the source material. Season 2 was unfortunately a major step down in writing, acting and production quality.

Ethan Durant

Sucks every one of the options I wanted are at the bottom and the ones I hate all at the top. It is what it is I suppose 🤷

Zachery Love

“If you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark that is all you will ever see.” -Uncle Iroh

Lachlan Smith

THE LAST KINGDOM! Haven't had a chance scroll though comment yet so but had to say it, So sad it wasn't on a list. That said a lot of amazing shoes on here so no real complaints. All I'd ask is if doing a longer show maybe break up the seasons in case it not for everyone? Would love to see like a band of brothers or Altered Carbon season 1 inbetween a longer show.

scott osborne

i seen farscape and its not good watched it whenh it was first aired on uk tv

Justin miner

oh fun a cw Corny show and a British corny show.. man ive already had to sit out battle star this whole time. lol

Justin miner

you cant call people out for bad taste in television then suggest a cw show lmao.

SFESniper

Band of Brothers has so much historical relevance, awareness necessity. and impact that it needs to be a serious consideration regardless of where it finishes in votes. The other shows are all great too!

RationallySassy

Season 2 of Squid Game is in the works and will hopefully be released this year - just sayinnng

Christoph Toifl

Lifelong Stargate Fan here, obviously I'll vote for that. If 17 seasons for the whole franchise looks like a bit too much, you could make the spin offs Patreon exclusive. That way, you would "only" need to edit the 10 seasons of SG-1, and it would be a hook for people to check out your Patreon. I'm sure that your SG-1 reactions would attract a lot of die-hard fans that will follow you to Patreon for Atlantis ...

HeyHeyJK

Only voting for Community here. The best show no channel I know of has reacted to.

Anonymous

You can't do SG1 without watching the movie first. Then it will take you a year, or more, to get through. Great universe though. I think your best bet is Band of Brothers.

John

Too many good choices to pick only one. You MUST watch the Stargate movie beofre SG1. Band of Brothers is a MUST SEE. Babylon 5 is also a fantasic series - definitely worth your time. The NuWho era is also fantastic. If you're a fan of Doctor Who at all, it can't be missed. Even if you're not, it can make you one. You need to watch all of them. The only question is the order.

Ramy

I think some folks give up early in s1 when it was admittedly weak, and I don't blame them. But its weirdness and cast chemistry, its ability to be cheesy and moving in the same episode, and its moments of goofball comedy and kinky tendencies kept me curious, and I'm glad they did because it got better and better. Its best episodes are right up there with some of the best TV I've seen. And in retrospect, it helped pave the way for serialized sci-fi with huge casts, and even influenced some big movies (most notably Guardians of the Galaxy, which James Gunn openly acknowledged and even cast Ben Browder in a cameo as a nod to Farscape's influence). But I'm guessing you know all that, I'm just saying it for everyone else lol 😅

Ramy

The Magicians is one of a very small handful of TV shows that made me ugly cry *in front of people*, and there are multiple scenes that I still can't watch without getting misty. There's a lot to live about the show, but for me it's the characters and the unique world building. Oh and the way it improves on the books, which even Lev Grossman acknowledged.

Jay Sotho

That is actually insane a tv show was able to improve on the book! I didn’t think I ever heard of a case of where that has happened until now!

Ramy

I didn't vote for One Piece because I've seen so many people react to it but damn that show turned out way better than I expected

Ramy

The Farscape/Stargate/SG1 era really was a very fun time for SyFy channel programming, even if SG1 did directly contribute to Farscape's cancellation lol

Ramy

fwiw, there are some good reaction podcasts out there. But like you I do wish there were some YT reactions. I think it might be due for a resurgence though. I feel like I've heard more and more folks talking about it lately.

Ramy

One thing about Farscape that hasn't gotten much attention here yet: some good Space Shit.

Derek Skipper

Agreed, absolutely fantastic. It is also different that your more "typical" sci fi shows like Star Trek, B5 and Stargate. I would compare it favourably to Firefly in relation to it being a band of misfits forced to find family with each other.

Ramy

Oh and though I like Stargate, your comments about military culture during your Razor reaction made me wonder if you might get tired of Stargate given that it's steeped in military culture.

Derek Skipper

Agreed, Farscape is premium Scifi that is all to often overlooked. Plus it has The Henson company responsible for the aliens and it just stands out for that.

Ramy

I think there's at least one other I felt that way about but it's not coming to mind rn

Derek Skipper

Agreed, the first half of season one is a bit hit or miss but once it finds its traction it is amazing until the end.

HawaiiMongoose

I absolutely agree. And at only 10 episodes Band of Brothers is a quick watch... it could be considered a bridge to the next full-length series, just as Firefly was a bridge from The Expanse to Battlestar Galactica. After a big meal it's usually good to indulge in an excellent dessert before moving on to the next big meal.

Ramy

And even when it was a miss, the performances and moments of clever improvised dialogue kept me engaged. I'm the kind of person that enjoys stuff like MST3K tho so I suppose YMMV

Anonymous

Squid game is a nice and short show and also has season 2 coming up this year! Also I really hope you'll check out black sails some day, truly the best piece of television ever made!

Ramy

For sure, but the military dynamics that Angela was discussing during the Razor reaction are definitely present in Stargate at times. And it does have its heavy moments. Seemed worth mentioning in light of that

brezanac

Babylon 5 might prove to be a tough sell these days. While the show did have some nice story arcs it also suffered from long periods of "filler" content and uneven pacing, especially at the end of season four when the fate of the show was hanging by a thread. The visual effects left a lot to be desired too, something Babylon 5 was known for even when it originally aired, and those unfortunately became even worse after the whole VFX production drama during season three. What ultimately killed the idea of Babylon 5 ever becoming more popular were poor viewership numbers and the fact that the show was aimed at a very niche audience, one that is somewhat cerebral on one side and willing to swallow a lot of bad production value on another. Don't get me wrong. Babylon 5 is still a pretty decent show. It's just that there are reasons why most content creators simply choose to avoid it. P.S. Not so fun fact. Babylon 5 is currently infamous among SciFi shows for having one of the highest ratios of deceased vs living actors who took part in it.

brezanac

By the way, love the "ass always" part in the description of the poll. I am sure it's just auto-collect at work 😏

hurryupmode

One Piece Live Action and Squid Game are quick to finish. 8 and 9 episodes, respectively . And the One Piece Live Action zeitgeist was not too long ago, so you may catch the tail end of viewership.

Saphthings

She would absolutely LOVE that show and it's top tier and I voted for it too lol. It us however a bit tough to censor for Youtube imo lol.

brezanac

The good thing about "Altered Carbon" S1 is that it wraps nicely and can be considered a separate watch from S2. It's a shame that the production decided to go their own ways instead of adapting "Broken Angels" and "Woken Furies" for S2 and S3. Although to be fair, Richard Morgan did go a bit off-the-rails with some pretty explicit depictions of weird sexual fetishes in the second and third book, especially in "Broken Angels".

Anonymous

Farscape is pretty dang good and unique, plus has a lot of great space shit! lol That’s my top vote.

Jawn

Band of Brothers is sensational. Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg crushed it when they made it. And being only 10 episodes makes it a pretty quick watch. A nice palette cleanser from the larger shows.

It's also a very excruciating experience for sensitive and empathy-driven people because it deliberately puts a lot of emphasis on graphically explicit depiction of violence. It's a good show, no question about that. Just not something I'd recommend to sensitive people.

Craig Hamilton

Agreed. There is no other SciFy space show like it. And where else can you get Jim Henson Company creations in Space SciFy!

Steve Combs

I'm shocked that while Doctor Who is pretty much a frontrunner, it's not getting a lot of praise here. I'll throw in my spoiler-free 2 cents in and defend the show and argue for its place on the rotation. A lot of people see the length as a flaw, but I see it as a *giant* plus. Length equals longevity and Doctor Who is a steady earner for reaction channels. It had grown channels with virtually no followers to those with hundreds of patrons *alone.* There is a lot of cross over in terms of the audience (I think the poll reflects this), but I also think that Doctor Who grabs people who aren't science fictionally inclined (its more light sci-fi),and so more people are likely to join. Doctor Who also has an increased relevancy now. It's current marketing and start of a new era of the show has put a lot of newer eyeballs on it, which can translate to an increase of viewership for reactions in general. Doctor Who is also just an excellent show that straddles genres and has something for nearly everybody. It can be fun, whimsical, scary, emotional, lighthearted and a lot more. It truly is an experience!

The Inedible Mattman!

It would honestly be a crime for Doctor Who not to win. Everything here is good, the list is solid ... but DW is one of the great shows of all time. It's lasting appeal comes from how invested everyone gets into it during their time watching. Come on, all ... you know what it would be like to see her watch DW. The epicness, the emotions ... if you think BSG is breaking her heart, just imagine what happens season after season of DW. :)

Vexkun

B5 have way too many favorite scenes! lol Plus with Angela way of picking up on story and characters beats, would love to see that mind take on B5! I think I know what the one scene we talking about! ;)

Laura T.

Farscape's overall story is so emotional and rich, I think you would really enjoy it. Plus, some frelling good Space Shit!

brezanac

From a marketing point of view growth is far more important for a developing channel than viewer retention. For an oversaturated market, like the one for reaction videos, focusing on getting new viewers by branching out makes far more sense than trying to keep existing ones at any cost. It is also far more likely for someone who stumbled on the channel by searching for a specific topic to join than for an existing member to leave just because they are not served the one type of content they were hoping for. Doctor Who has fourteen seasons, counting the 2024 release in, and something like 300+ episodes. That's a commitment that is guaranteed to cause heavy burnout at some point. For comparison, "The Expanse" had five times fewer episodes (62 total) and it still felt like a long term accomplishment. Just my two strips of gold-pressed latinum.

Slick447

I've watched quite a few of your reactions. I think I can confidently say you would love the One Piece Live Action and probably Altered Carbon as well. From a more "business" standpoint, season 2 of Squid Game is due at some unknown time in 2024. Might be worthwhile to time your reaction to the highly popular season 1 close to the release.

DTGstl314

The Bear is the best show on television right now, and the first season practically swept the Emmy Awards, quite deservedly. Needs more love here.

RichardTheTraveler

I'm soo happy to see you including Farscape on this list! I'd be soo thrilled to watch that show again! Early 2000's space shit!

MertzRocks

Angela, I'll add a few of my own Centauri Dukats - that's a Babylon 5 reference BTW ; ) - and add some praise for Doctor Who (Dr? hereafter). - This has one of my votes above. It is still in my top 10 favorite sci-fi shows ever, and probably will continue to be for quite some time. Though I've not seen any Who since Mr. Capaldi's tenure (or even all of his), I have thoroughly enjoyed nearly every episode since it restarted in 2005 and up until season 8. I don't know why I stopped! But before that, I finished growing up in the early 80 watching the Tom Baker and Peter Davison years of the original run of Dr? and ate up as much of the even earlier stuff that I could get my eyes on. Even some of the really bad effects are fun to watch and also despite them there are some stellar stories with equally good acting in them. - I guess you know that a show with such longevity cannot have the same actor in the titular role season after season. I won't spoil one of the key aspects of the show directly but I CAN suggest this to get around the "flaw" people mention: When the lead actor changes (and you'll have a warning), you can take a break from Dr? and do a shorter show between seasons, and then come back effectively fresh! Steve made some excellent points about genres. Remember how Firefly had a horror-esque episode? That show (top of my list btw) only scratches the surface; Dr? did a lot of horror, mystery, action, a bit of romance, and of course all the good ol' classic sci-fi ideas in many different ways. Even when it got tropey it was fun! - How many Dukats was that, Londo? Well... There you are.

RP

No love for Peaky Blinders here.😕 Best show on the list IMO

Scott Hanson

But for someone with a misunderstanding of who and what the military is... as seen in reactions to BSG on some of the more fake aspects of the military being taken for truth... it is a good educational film.

Matthew Hanrahan

The truth is that most of the shows in the poll deserve a watch. Some are just more popular, or overall more impactful, than others. And I think it's just as important for you to watch something that interests you as it is to please your own audience. Having said that, and knowing how much you love Space Shit™, I'd say the frontrunners should be Farscape and Babylon 5.

Anonymous

If you want a Television show that was light years ahead of it's time then you need to watch Babylon 5. It's a show that will have you both laughing with joy and crying with emotion. It's not a greatly written sci-fi show, but a greatly written show full stop.

Anonymous

I'm going to second this comment, with one caveat - if you decide to do B5 you should strongly consider doing the first time reaction with movies PLUS a second-time watching. B5 has so many easter eggs and hidden clues that you won't pick up on until subsequent viewings. My wife and I have rewatched the show several times, each time noticing more subtle gems in the plot.

Paul Mason

I don't think burnout is caused by committing to a long running show so much as trying to do too much. The thing I see burning out reactors are when they try to do all the zeitgeist-y shows when they are released and end up overloaded. ISTM having a long-running show gives you a level of stability that will reduce not increase stress. Doctor Who is a fascinating case because of the different Doctors and their "eras" which have their own fans and detractors. Doing Doctor Who is closer to doing the MCU movies or shows. There are fans who will be around for all of it, and those that will only do their particular favourites. It also means there are built-in break points where you go take a break and do a shorter show in between.

Anonymous

I started watching you through your Expanse videos. So I know you like "Space Shit". I know you like impactful stories and emotional moments. And I know you like when dislikable characters win you over. The name of that show... is Babylon 5.

Anonymous

Yeah, there are definitely scenes that would have to be hard cut for the Youtube edit. lol

Anonymous

Some of my favorite Angela moments are when she goes "Dammit. You made me care about X!" This makes Babylon 5 the correct choice. Also seconding the movies. Skipping "In the Beginning" would be a crime...

Anonymous

I tried. I just couldn't... Having had the last two seasons of SG-1 replaced with a Farscape reunion was punishing enough.

Anonymous

Doesn't necessarily mean Angela will go for the top votes. I doubt Expanse and Firefly would beat SG-1 and DW but here we are. This is as much about appealing to the audience as to herself.

Vexkun

Note that movie should be watched after season 4, big spoilers in it. Awesome movie!!

Anonymous

Band of Brothers first...all the rest whilst very good, pale into insignificance

Kester

There are so many shows on this list that I would love for you to watch, but my biggest vote has to go to Farscape. So few people react to it, it's relatively short, and I reckon it would be right up your alley. (Also, if you do watch Stargate SG1, watch Farscape first, for non-spoiler reasons of cast meta-jokes in the last few seasons of SG1).

Bubba Fett

B5 was always my favorite until expanse, now they're tied. Hard to pick over the other as they have their unique elements.

Anonymous

I wonder why Foundation wasn't in the polls. It's probably the biggest and best-looking sci-fi show right now, with a rather complex story, too. And it has a LOT of cool "space s**t" in it ;) I don't know why there are almost no reactions to this show on YT.

David Vandervliet

Babylon 5 really blazed the trail for the long serial format we see so often today, BSG owes a lot to it. With a great cast, and solid direction. Visually it was ambitious, but considering it was a small independent production, it stretched its budget to the limit. Some of it doesn't always hold up, but the cast really does a great job selling it.

David Vandervliet

Joining the chorus of Farscape. There is no BSG without Farscape. By that I mean it was SciFi's first breakout original series, and gave the network the clout to push the limits of what they could do As a show it's very different. It's loud, it's colorful, it's sexy, it's silly and at the same time heartbreaking. It also took the show a good half season to really figure out what it was going to be. Of the first 15 episodes, there are maybe only 4 or 5 that really work, but you keep watching because of the cast, and the fact that it was so different than almost everything else. And then you get into the back half of season one, and things just fall into place so perfectly, and season 2 just goes right on from there. I don't know if you are going solely on the votes, if so, than Farscape will probably never make it to the top of the list, since other franchises have many more fans - but I will tell you this, you will never frelling forget watching Farscape.

David Vandervliet

Stargate is Gomer Pyle USMC compared to BSG (Not meant to be hate) Stargate command structure is much more Star Trek style. We fight, but we are explorers... BSG is a war story.

brezanac

Nothing burns down a person faster than stress from having to do something that they don't feel like doing anymore. That and a love stare from a Kowakian monkey-lizard. Shorter goals mean you can wrap up whatever you are doing faster and just move onto the next thing.

Ramy

For sure. But I do know folks who tuned out of SG specifically due to its reliance on military motifs. Seemed worth mentioning. Heck, SG even had a partnership with the USAF to keep command structure/terminology/uniforms as accurate as possible.

ParanoidGary

Agreed, plus it's not a huge time commitment and S2 retains quality or gets better depending who you ask.

Steve Combs

Doesn’t that rather depend on the individual? And do we know that she wouldn’t like Doctor Who? Doctor Who is multiple “shows” within a show. Each era retains similarities, but also brings a new flavor. I’m failing to see how length is the deciding factor of burnout.

Külwaith

Aw Caprica did not get past the qualifier : /

brezanac

1) You commit to a long term show. 2) Somwehere along the way you possibly realize that you don't like the show anymore. 3) Now you have to decide between calling it quits or manning up until the end, just for the sake of consistency and commitment. 4) If you decide to man up, you are guaranteed to eat up your burnout buffer infinitely faster because of the psychological effect of having to do something you really don't want to do anymore. 5) Shorter shows mean there's a faster way to get through the manning up phase, if it comes to that. In the end the name of the show really doesn't matter. Doctor Who just happens to be the longest SciFi show of all times. With 300+ episodes and assuming the usual two episodes per week release cycle, fifty two weeks per year, that's a commitment of over THREE YEARS. That's a pretty scarry number to commit to for anything.

brezanac

Just something to wrap things up. While I agree that content is important, it's the personal touch of the content creator that makes or breaks the final result for me. Don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for watching a raw unfiltered depiction of someone's amygdala doing the Kessel Run in twelve sniffles. But I am also very interested in hearing the innocent perspective of someone fresh being introduced to the material for the first time, especially if they've already demonstrated a high level of attention to details. Something along the lines of watching a BSG reaction and thinking to myself "how the hell did she figure that out, when an entire council of geniuses, myself included of course (😏), couldn't do it back in the days"!? To cut the (very) long story short. I've been following the YouTube channel for almost two years but only recently decided to become more engaged with the community. By now I am fairly certain that I could watch Angela (I am sorry for using first-name basis like this) read from a Klingon phone book and I'd still find it interesting and engaging. And while I'd probably have a hard time watching anything Hen... I mean Anime related... That's perfectly all right. Something for everyone and everything for someone. So, here's to that Silver Creator Award plaque coming this year (🥳) and thank you for all your undeniably hard work while staying true to your formula 🍷 Ok... I think my dinner is trying to dial 911 from the basement... I really need to get me some better locks. Peace and long life 🖖

Leah Gustavson

I would say that Farscape has a lot of "dammit, you made me care about X, " as well. :-)

Leah Gustavson

frelling is the frakking of Farscape. And if you want more creative curse words Dren = shit, drelk = peice of shit, Fahrbot = Insane, demented (or I always though it meant fucked-up), Mivonks = testicles ... and so on...

Leah Gustavson

As much as I want to see you watch Farscape, Band of Brothers is S T E L L A R. It got to the point where the opening music would come on and I'd start crying before anything even happened in the episode.

Leah Gustavson

I actually want to warn you off of Altered Carbon. I am not sure how much of this is because of having read the first 2 books but I will not read another of his books again. The way he writes the relationships between men and women is just fucking creepy. (And this is coming from someone who found value in the Leoben character). I did not watch the second season of Altered Carbon. I liked the idea of the story but I did not like the execution of book to screen and I did not like the way sex is handled in the book - especially the second one - it was abusive and horrifying, hiding behind some macho bullshit). It could just be me but I have a male friend that felt the same way about it. So, I'll just leave that here for you to contemplate.

Kurt Miller

I'm a bit sad that Dark wasn't on any of the lists, but also I'm not sure how good something in German with English subtitles would work, especially given how complex it is.

Christian Rennie

ooh, it wuld be cool to see Fringe in the mix one of these days :)

brezanac

In the first book, "Altered Carbon", the "sexual gore" might be a bit hard to stomach but it actually makes a lot of sense since it was supposed to be demeaning, especially for torture. The second book, "Broken Angels", does have a couple of weird sex scenes but those are few and far between. The third book, "Woken Furies", is somewhere in the middle. . All in all I probably wouldn't pick Morgan to write a love story, but relationships are not exactly high on the list of elements the "Altered Carbon" book series was focusing on. And if you think "Altered Carbon" books are bad, William Gibson's "Neuromancer" has way more gore and weird sex stuff yet it's considered today to be the origin of the entire Cyberpunk genre 🙂

Steve Combs

I don't mean to continue the conversation, but I *honestly* don't understand where the 300+ number comes from. From the poll, it indicates that she will *just* be watching Doctor Who (not the spins offs), starting from Series 1 (2005 and onward). Thats *not* 300+ episodes. Its 179 episodes, which is certainly not short, but its not even close to the number touted.

Harry Moon

im new to the patreon club but hoping to reach some of yall with this comment. We absolutely need the bear on this channel! The character development, the serious yet comedic manner in which this show operates, and the pure emotions that it'll make you feel. For those who have not seen it, i can assure that watching it through the first time w our funny lil gal will be well worth giving it a shot. At first i didnt think that a culinary, fictious show could get me so hooked. For anyone that has any experience in the food industry or even just hospitality will relate all too well to the struggles of this show. Also anyone who finds themselves in a group that feels like family, will understand and relate to the levels of annoyance and love that team of the show relays. PLEASE CHEFS !les get this reaction series at some point! get those upvotes up!

ParanoidGary

lol seriously Reacher is just lame dad-porn for middle aged dudes, it's awful.

Champagne

PLEASE, anything but Doctor Who. <3

Leah Gustavson

*** MILD SPOILERS*** Also *** TRIGGER WARNING re: sexual abuse*** Firstly, I don't really have an issue with weird sex stuff per se. I don't even have an issue with sexual violence or torture if it has a place in the story. I have read Neuromancer but it was long ago and my sensibilities have changed over time as is quite common with people. I do not remember having an issue with the sex in that book. I am by no means a prude but I do have an issue when people try to normalize nonconsensual sex, excuse it away and say it's ok. (This is not in any way directed at you or your comments, this is just how I see the scene that really put me off which is mentioned below). I agree with you on the first book but that isn't even what I was talking about with the one exception of the pheromone scene. It has been a while, so I don't recall what it was about that scene that put me off. No, it is indeed what you refer to as the "weird" sex scene in the second book that made me wonder about the author. That scene was our protagonist helping to "heal" a traumatized woman to make her battle ready by having sex with her against her will???? (If one is not in a state of fully functioning faculties then one cannot consent. No sex with the inebriated, the unconscious, the sleeping. Just no. Otherwise it IS rape). Sure, IIRC, it was in a virtual reality but in this setting that makes things very real indeed. My problem with this is, in a culture that already has a problem denouncing rape as it is, here we have our protagonist justifying raping this woman to bring her out into the real world for the mission. "Hey, I had to do it for the mission and her own good." It's repulsive. If it was just this one thing about the writing that I had a problem with, I would probably have read the last book but to me the payoff was just not worth it to slog through some of his writing. And that's a shame because I like the concept and a lot of his world building.

Leah Gustavson

LOL, I also disagree with your statement about relationships not being high on the list of the series of novels. The first 2 had quite a bit of stuff in them about relationships but more through Kovaks' past, but also in having to work with whichever team of people he was thrown in with. There is still a human deep down that actually cares when push comes to shove.

Dylan Monaghan

I would say because it is one of the best if not the best depiction of the events of that time. It's relatively short and has a lot of heart.

Outcast Spartan

I want it too, but I was exclaiming the dismay I have that it will never win a poll.

Darth Muppet

Really thought FARSCAPE would be doing better… especially with the plethora of really awesome “Space Shit” it provides.

Darth Muppet

Farscape is one of my favorite shows of all time. And I don’t care what anyone says, Scorpius is hands down one of the greatest scifi antagonists ever created. Scary as hell, brutal, frighteningly intelligent, and hellbent on achieving his goals no matter what… but he’s not evil and his motivations actually make sense.

Vexkun

Maybe not enough people on here seen it? I love to see Farscape, SG1 and B5 on here at some point.

Elizabeth F Dorner

I would love to see B5 here, it's such a complete story with one of THE most amazing character arcs on any show I've ever watched. Alas, results wise it's looking like it's too late for the pebbles to vote :(

Champagne

Well, without leaving pages to read, my opinion is the quality swings wildly from one spectrum to the other episode to episode and definitely season to season. I will say that I had a very hard time staying interested. The stories and writing are umm... let's just say not great. I love your channel because of quality things like Battlestar Galactica. Watching acting and writing on that level is interesting to watch. Using Battlestar Galactica again as an example, watching your discovery of James Callis and his acting, has been a pleasure. He's severely underrated. Doctor Who is definitely NOT going to deliver that. haha. At least not from what I've seen. That's as kind as I can be.

Anonymous

My kingdom for a Farscape reaction. So many memorable characters and relationships set in some quality "space shit." And all of the Jim Henson Company puppets and practical effects hold up so well.

brezanac

I couldn't agree more on this but didn't want to use it as an argument during my Dr Who length discussion to not make it a potential spoiler. Now everyone can blame Champagne if it is 😏

Chip

I voted for Doctor Who and Farscape. I think Doctor Who is the most brilliant sci-fi show of all-time. That said, those praising Farscape are not wrong about how frelling incredible it is. You can't go wrong with either.

Nicholas Vlahakis

Lucifer would be an incredible watch! It's one of my favorites and I know many tears will flow lol

Anonymous

I hope Doctor Who gets it! It's got some low points where a writer failed to launch their idea, but the episodes that are good are REALLY GOOD. If Stargate takes the lead I won't be mad either, that show is premium scifi as well.

Doug C

How big a bribe do I need to make for more Babylon 5 votes?

Anonymous

As a fan of Doctor Who, I agree on the fluctuating quality a lot, plus even just taking the revival series into account, it'd make a hell of a backlog of episodes to get through. That being said, I think that when the writing is good, it's really good, the acting is pretty much phenomenal even in the worst episodes/storylines, and the goofy CGI/special effects in the earlier seasons are, personally, extremely charming. It's definitely not a show for everyone and I'd say that if it's something Angela decides she's not into partway through and ultimately drops, that's fine by me, but she should definitely give it a shot.

Anonymous

Although Doctor Who's quality varies more than some of the shows here (due to the nature of the show), the highest points of Doctor Who are higher than anything on the poll and only reached by very few shows (Breaking Bad, Succession, Chernobyl, True Detective S1). And the average quality of the first 10 series is really good. Also, it has so much variety from episode to episode in genres; and regeneration is, to this day, one of the most brilliant ideas of any tv show.

Anonymous

Babylon 5 is so good! I imagine Angela would love it as it has tons of space shit and amazing stories and character arcs.

Anonymous

One thing about Band of Brothers, tho it is currently not top of the list, is that is is only a 10 episode miniseries, were the top ones have episodes in the hundreds. Worth mentioning, so it could be thrown in quickly before getting to one of the others ;) Amazing series

Wild_Lee_Coyote

Babylon 5 has one of the most epic mid season plot endings ever. I remember watching it when it aired and wondering where the hell the series was going and then a plot line setup a season ago came roaring back.

Drake Raiju

I missed the poll but i wanted to chip in. BSG is one of my favorite tv show of all time, the other 3 are Farscape, Person of interest and Doctor Who. Farscape is goofy space shìt that i know you will love, Doctor Who you will love too because it will blow your mind even if it's inconsistent and Person of interest probably has one of the best storyline but it's a hidden gem, it's not the show people think it is and you will have to watch season 1 to understand the scope of it, but i'm sure you will love it.😁 Black sails, community, west wing, the magicians are good options too. And Stargate SG1 for the culture😆😄

Kyle

I missed the Poll but hope you enjoy the shows that got picked! Just got done watching your animated avatar reactions and they were so great to watch! If you do another poll think about adding Buffy the vampire slayer (tv show) The first season is a little "camp" Which is great but it really does buil into something amazing and i really think you'd appreciate it. It is a long haul show so maybe not for a while but I highly reccomend it. It's fantasy with very powerful emotional episodes but also super goofy light hearted ones too. Also crazy ex girlfriend which is one of my favourite shows of all time the name puts people off but i promise it's woth it. It's a dromedy musical (Which i never thought i'd like) But it's so masterful at what it does with comedy and balancing serious topics.
