The forgotten movie scene (re: materializing inside a mountain) you can’t quite remember is probably the original Star Wars A New Hope, where Han Solo tells Luke that without precise calculations, they could end up inside a star or next to a super-nova. 😊

One small continuity problem I noticed on this particular rewatch: The previous episode (Downloaded) established that the nukes were dropped on Caprica "9 months ago". That's when Caprica Six sacrificed herself to save Gaius and she was downloaded. Gaius just announced his candidacy in the episode before present-day portions "Downloaded" happened. Which leads to: This episode - in the prologue leading up to the first debate - the announcer states that "It has been a month since Dr. Baltar announced his run" (or something to that effect). But in the conversation with Zarek after the planet is discovered and they talk about the new strategy of using the idea of the planet to win the election Zarek still states that "It may look dreary, but it's solid ground under your feet and real sky over your head. You'd be surprised what a powerful idea that is to people cooped up in metal boxes for 9 months." So Zarek lost a month in his dialogue. It's a minor thing...but just something I noticed on this particular watching. So just for clarity: Currently, we're +10 months since the Cylons attacked the colonies. (also means that this super depressed Sharon in this episode is a month removed from "losing" her child, which lends itself to the kind of resigned weight she was carrying)

In space with no sunrises or sunsets, ‘cooped up in metal boxes,’ one would develop a horrible disconnect with calendars and with time in general. Unless you went out of your way to commemorate the precise passage of days, weeks, and months, hardly anyone would have any real concept of how much time had really passed.

I think they've mentioned the danger of jumping into solid objects twice before. In the miniseries when Galactica makes its first jump they talk about how they haven't calculated a jump in years and if they're not careful they could end up jumping into the sun. And how Pegasus was in drydock when the Cylons attacked and the only way they could survive was blind(random) jumping away and hoping they survive. I think it's worth noting(this really applies more other previous episodes) that the Cylons as a society are extremely young with little or no experience outside their small group of effectively a dozen individuals. I think it's worth keeping this in mind when observing how they behave and think. They are born into adult bodies and are often not as emotionally or intellectually mature as one would expect from their apparent age.

Ha! Jokes on you. I am capable of delayed gratification, so I didn't watch this episode until you put up part two. ...and everybody else already covered everything, so on to the next!
