I’m genuinely gutted that we won’t get to see Ray Stevenson finish Baylan’s story. I wonder if the setup is that Anakin’s Force ghost still has some work to do in bringing balance? I agree that Sabine’s sudden Force proficiency seemed a little too convenient; we saw her “having a feeling” at least once but that didn’t seem like enough to justify the sudden shift. It’s a pretty common trope though and I think it’s forgivable. I love that Thrawn worked out that Ahsoka would have worried about whether her training and legacy was tainted by Anakin’s fall, and actually called her up to twist the knife when he was certain he had won. That’s the evil genius we know and love. Not his fault he doesn’t know that Ahsoka and Anakin can still have the odd chat. The resurrected night troopers were suitably intimidating, and it seemed like the music as they were getting back up riffed on the opening of Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, which was a nice touch. The way they linked Ezra into Kanan’s history with the lightsabre emitter felt right, and I can’t help but wonder if Ezra is going to end up training Jacen. Hera definitely seemed ambivalent about the idea of Jacen receiving training, but I guess the context is that she has seen Ahsoka and Sabine fall out over it. Luke is essentially a stranger and based on what we saw with Grogu and Din, would probably want to cut off contact between her and Jacen. Ezra, though, is family, and also part of Kanan’s legacy. Plus from our perspective it would keep Jacen clear of the disaster at Luke’s academy.

As far as the sword goes i am 90% sure it is referring to Mother Talzin. Although, that has some interesting implications to the influence that Mother Talzin really had. She seemed to just be the current (during the clone wars) leader of Dathomir who was easily bested by Count Dooku and General Grievous, however, with this episode they seem to implicate that she is a very ancient and powerful warrior of the night sisters, one known and revered by the Dathomirie a whole galaxy away. Side Note: I just noticed you have a Mai Funko Pop on the lower left side of your set. That is amazing, i didn't even know they made that one. Edit: During season six of clone wars, Mother Talzin fought Mace Windu with a sword that looked vary similar to the one in this episode.

Miss Inosanto was the goddaughter of Bruce Lee. Her father took over Jeet Kune Do when he died. I bet she did her own fighting. She is a legend that comes from legends.

Despite loving 90-95% of it, I am very frustrated with this show. I think the biggest issue is the number of episodes. I think the story they wanted to tell would have benefitted from having at least a couple more episodes to let things breathe. As it is a lot of things either felt rushed or weren't given enough time and focus because there were too many things to cover in a limited amount of time. The only thing that wasn't in a rush was our freaking heroes taking their sweet time the last couple of episodes despite Thrawn literally saying the only thing they couldn't afford to lose was time. I mean, did they really need to slowly fly above the Noti for a while instead of chasing Thrawn right away? Anyway, I absolutely love the way the set up Sabine finally using the Force this season. I think it makes perfect sense that she was able to pull the lightsaber using the Force. It's a classic Star Wars beginner Force move for a reason. But then they had to ruin it by having her immediately do something so much more difficult. Just have Ezra leap to Thrawn's ship without help. Or maybe he needs to Force pull himself the last little bit. I get it, she's finally started trusting the Force or whatever, but having Sabine Force push Ezra just felt wrong to me. On the subject of things getting shortchanged by not having enough time to focus on all the storylines, we got a big fat nothing about Balan and Shin in this episode because they had to focus so much on the main plotline of chasing down Thrawn's ship. We don't know anything more about what they were doing than we did before, other than Balan likes standing on giant statues and Shin didn't choose to go back to Thrawn for who knows what reason. Why did she make that choice? Would've been nice to see that. Is Balan actually looking at something specific or just enjoying the view of a random valley from the top of a giant statue? Some more context there would've been nice. A very unsatisfying end of the season for those characters. Okay, enough whining! I loved Ezra building a new lightsaber and getting to use a piece that Kana also used in his lightsaber. I loved the cool sword with green flames. I loved all the action in this episode a lot, especially the duel between Ahsoka and Morgan Elsbeth. RIP Ahsoka's second lightsaber! I loved that we got a classic jump off a cliff then rise up on the surface of a spaceship moment. I loved the zombie stormtroopers. I loved that Ezra got to disguise himself in trooper armor again, but I am sad that we didn't get to see him escape Thrawn's ship while wearing it. Flashbacks to that in season 2 please! I love that Chopper seemed to recognize Ezra right away despite the disguise. I loved that we got to see Anakin's Force ghost at the end, although it baffles me why Ahsoka didn't see him there. I loved the music, as always. The soundtrack definitely elevated this show higher than it could've gotten without it. All in all I think we got pretty spoiled by this show despite my quibbles with it. In the end I think most of my frustration just comes from wishing there was more of it. Hopefully we at least get a 2nd season, if not many more than that.

I just wanted to see your reaction to sabine using the force to push esra so far considering she only just managed to grab her lightsaber. That reminded me of luke on the ice planet hoth when he first used the force.

Doug

I think with Sabine the writers are intentionally trying to frustrate the audience with her not telling what she senses or knows. They want to irritate the audience a little bit, knowing that it will keep everyone coming back for more.

my idea of the force is that it's based on your belief and motivation. Possibly helping out with the door (regardless of how much she actually contributed) made her believe she could do it, and the entire show long her whole goal was getting Ezra home. So the actions that it took her to get Ezra home is what allowed her to use the force well enough to achieve that

Nathaniel Castle

Loved it I don’t know why but with the panning of the different factions on the Witch planet all I could think is this is exactly how I would want a Live action Thundercats show to feel Great reaction as always!

If you remember back in episode 4 baylan point blank tells us that the reason she is blocked is because of Ezra. Her guilt over what what happened to him and how much she missed him and how she felt she was failing him by not having found him was what was mentally blocking her for being able to move forward. I also think she was being held back due how her previous relationship with Ahsoka ended also weighing heavily on her. she was content watching Ezra build his lightsaber, it wasn't until Huyang says that he was "old enough to know that the relationship between a master and an apprentice is as challenging as it is meaningful" that is the moment that Sabine's Mood fell. and she leaves after hearing Huyang tell Ezra that he must have been a good student. Something Sabine believes she must not have been. we know that when people she loves are hurt she gets really hot headed and starts talking about killing people. but not once has she actually followed through with her words. all she really seems to need is some form of physical outlet to vent her emotions. she did this went Fenn Rau hurt Hera, and she did it when Kanan died. She could have easily killed Rau on concordia, and she could have let Zeb kill Rugh, but both times she didn't do it. she even stopped Zeb and told him this wasn't the right thing to do. We know that ultimately it was Ahsoka's fear of what happened to Anakin that made her doubt Sabine, but to Sabine she must have felt this like a Rejection. You can see on her face (and hear in the music,) when she enters the ship the first time how happy she looks, she is remembering happier times. we also know that they have a strong bond. So thinking that your master rejected you once and know what she did, she is afraid that once Ahsoka finds out she'll reject her again. You can see it on how she reacts when Ahsoka says "your gamble paid off." you can tell that at the very least she's expecting a scolding like her mother might do. wose, she is expecting what always happens in her life when people are upset with her, they reject her and they leave her. just like her family, did just like Ketsu did, just like Ahsoka already did once. so when Ahsoka says "I know" to her apology she is totally confused. And when Ahsoka says that not matter what happens that she will stay at her side, it means the world to her. she is telling her that she will be for Sabine what Anakin was for her. you have to imagine that having finally rescued Ezra and fixing her relationship with Ahsoka removed these heavy burdens weighing her down, blocking her from unlocking her true potential. Potential that Ahsoka always knew existed. you aren't afraid of someone with little to no potential becoming dangerous. you worry about someone with actual potential becoming evil and using that potential to do evil. also i think its rather funny that Ezra never found out what actually happened. Ahsoka must have covered for Sabine when they explained to Ezra that they had to stop Thrawn. But I completely agree with you, i really want to see her grow as a jedi and create her own lightsaber, one that acually refects her. though i love how she has adopted the blaster saber combo form. it totally reflects who she really is.

thought, what if Ahsoka melts down the sword and turns it into her staff from the epilogue?
