FULL LENGTH REACTION

You're half-right about this being the first laser we've seen so far: It's the first laser weapon a character has actually FIRED on-screen, but we've seen them held and brandished and used to threaten a few times throughout the series. Most noticeably at the end of "Trash", where Inara uses a laser pistol to hold Saffron at bay after the Lassiter (also a laser) doesn't fire. Since you're almost to the end, I'm going to pitch a suggestion to watch the "R. Tam Sessions" after the last episode, but before watching the "Serenity" movie. These are a series of short videos that were released on-line in the leadup to the movie as part of a viral marketing campaign. These are fully official and canon, starring Summer Glau (River Tam). They are NOT critical to understanding the plot of the movie, but they provide a fantastic glimpse and really set the mood so you know what you're getting into. The whole thing is only 8 minutes long, so you can add it to the end of the last episode or the start of "Serenity" if you don't want to make them a whole separate video.

Jonathan Flick

I always thought Mal said yes to the job just because Inara asked.

funnylilgalreacts

It’s definitely because she asked, but it took very little convincing once she mentioned that it was an independent whorehouse

Terry Yelmene

Other reactors have included reactions to the River Sessions - some before Serenity, some after, but they are a good add-on to the FF experience.

DeadStillEating

If you have a problem. If no one else can help and if you can find them...

Dylan Maxey

Mal and Inara are both afraid to be vulnerable with each other, they carry their scars deep within. Inara craves a true love when she can just *be*. Mall, especially has lost so many in his life plus we know nothing of his childhood, I think he wants her so badly but in this one aspect of life he is terrified she will reject him if she sees the true inner man. Mal sees himself as a bad man for he knows what darkness lives not too deeply under the surface. That tender heart of Mal's wants to be freed if he can only see himself as worthy of her beautiful heart and spirit. IMO.

I'll probably do them separately. We looked it up and it was "spoilerish" so I decided to wait till after I watched Serenity. I've watched Serenity and now I can't even bring myself to watch any more because I'm too heartbroken. I didn't expect that.

Robert Inman

Despite all the crossed wires and disconnects between Mal and Inara, that moment looking into each other's eyes over Nandi's body, it seemed like their thoughts were linked - and Mal felt Inara's telling him to get Burgess.

Andrew Howard

They just drug up all the romantic tension in this one. Mal and Inara's big blowout that feels very much like that was written with additional seasons in mind. Kaylee and Simon don't really have much going on here, but there's a few interesting suggestive omissions (like Kaylee not taking up some of the male options). Zoe and Wash have their discussion about having a kid. Then on a more lighthearted note is Jayne's no-reservations approach, contrasted to Shepherd Book's all-reservations approach. All in all it's a great episode for stirring the pot. Looking forward to the last episode, and to Serenity! Sad to see it ending, but the last pieces left are some of the best parts left.

Dax

My guess is that your favorite will either be Wash or Kaylee. I'm really looking forward to the final episode and then hopefully the movie. Do you know what is next on your watch list after Firefly is all wrapped up?

HawaiiMongoose

There will be plenty to say about Serenity after your reaction is up so I won’t go there yet, other than to assure you we’ve all felt it and are all there with you.

If you've watched Serenity, I think a lot of us would be interested to hear your take on the comics you were sent. Book's story in particular, for me.

Sural Argonus

Jane's character is designed in such a way that he grows on you. I don't think he was meant to be a completely likeable person immediately. His character arc was actually the most subtle of them all. River was unfortunately the one affected most by the Studio's treatment of the show. She was, if I recall, supposed to be the MacGuffin over at least a full season or two. I wouldn't be surprised if Zoë and Wash would have ended up with a kid during the run. Mal and Inara were likely supposed to be a thing...and I am certain they weren't going to drag that out for long. Doc and Kaylee probably would have ended up together regardless during River's arc at some point. He's just laser focused on his sister and also being totally inexperienced, didn't really grasp what Kaylee's intentions were. As I've said before, the Studio doing what they did, caused a lot of the events Whedon and the Writers had planned to be condensed into the movie. The last Episode, is actually pretty good...Not my favorite, but I enjoyed it. It's a River ep. All I will say about that. You've asked about favorite characters/episodes several times...but for me it's hard. There isn't a single episode I don't like. I love the main cast. Even the recurring villains have their good points. Jaynestown is probably one of my favorites, because that's really the point Jayne really starts his development as a character. Ariel is another because of Jayne's development Trash and Our Mrs Reynolds were both just fun. Kaylee, even tho I love her...kinda got on my nerves at a few points whining about how she doesn't think people find her attractive. I dunno. Maybe it's me...but pretty girls who think they are ugly, bother me. I mean on a psychological level I get the self esteem thing, but sometimes it just feels like they are fishing, and I've known MAAAAANY fishers. Simon...I get why he is the way he is...and I've known people like that. There is an inverse proportion to Intelligence and Social Ability. You see a lot of Sheldon Coopers out there...All the brains, but can't handle social interactions, and the perplexing Über jocks who everybody loves but couldn't add 2 plus 2 and think fart jokes are high art. Shepard Book is an enigma and was meant to be for a long time. I know Whedon had a plan (for everything really) but what he was able to dole out just made Book even more of an enigma, and it was great.

William

I reckon Jayne is your favourite, certainly mine

Dylan Maxey

Thanks, I never spent all the money to chase after the secondary stories. Might need to break down and fall into that rabbit hole, haha, the coloring books are never enough.

Enskipp

Your favorite is Kaylee

Adam

One of us, one of us 😄 That's what I can't figure out about Kaylee. She is more open and doesn't mind nudity. I mean if you think about how she got the job. So why doesn't Kaylee just say something to Simon. 😄Book just wanted a sandwich, he's got his priorities right. 🤔 I saw it as Mal said yes because Inara was apart of his crew. Her friends needed help and he was going to help. Because he takes care of his crew. I never thought about it being because of their rebel status. Mal does like helping the little guy or gal. OMG yes! I hate the will they won't they. Spoiler if you haven't seen friends But It's a cheap and annoying story plot.👉(Like Ross and Rachel 😡 )👈
