I think this episode is sad, because you feel for Mal & Zoey. They lost their friend 3 times- once when they thought he was dead, again when he betrayed them, and finally when he really was dead. And that he saw their friendship as something to be exploited rather than a bond between people who have gone through horrific experiences and taken care of each other.

Your mouse matches my Kayak and Jayne’s hat. When I first got it I wanted to glue dinosaurs in front of the cockpit, à la Wash, but I was afraid they’d fly off during transport. Oh, and there’s something in a jar.”~Wash Not many get that he’s referring to Simon and how he’s so inept when talking to Kaylee but you did. Not much gets by FLG. The hat was made with love and care by his mother. 🧡 Jayne sent money to her just like Christopher Reeve’s Clark Kent did to his mother in the 1978 movie. I read they imagined Jayne’s mother to be a little lady like the actress Ruth Gordon. She and Adam appeared in a movie yrs ago called My Bodyguard. If you want a sense of who she was search for Ruth Gordon + Subaru commercial. Feisty, strong, & funny. Greg Edmonson’s score is fantastic and so moving here. He really loved this show. It flies along side Serenity. "I loved the fact that he could save your soul, but he(Book) could also kick your ass. That's a really interesting combination to play."~Ron Glass You love Wash, but I bet Kaylee is your favorite or who you feel kindred to. Mine is Mal. He’s the soul and conscience of the group.

Now…don’t get to thinking that Serenity isn’t your favorite character. You haven’t really met her yet, or let her talk to you. Let me tell you…when she speaks, it’s a might unsettling. Glad you loved this episode, and all the hats you’ve gotten is hilarious. But yeah…this episode is always a tease of Jayne’s depth. Overall in what we got, Jayne is by far the shallowest character we’ve explored, but I have a feeling we have a man here who is a mama’s boy, and who might have a troubled history with his father. We never found out (unless it was in some of the books I didn’t read…I haven’t read all of them). Dare I say…Jayne might have been this show’s Jamie Tartt, if we’d had enough time? But anyway…your favorite character? I still think it’s Mal, but Wash is #2.

Just to clarify, during this outro, unlike the one from the episode before that, you said Serenity will be in the movie tier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa0Cer1qlIM&t=3348s), I think you meant in the tv tier? Or did I misunderstand something? Anyway, thanks for the reaction, as always :)

Such a tragic ending with such heart-rending music, and the emotion is further magnified for anyone who knows this was the final scene of “Firefly” filmed after the cast learned of the series’ cancellation. Obviously they were unaware the movie would be in their future, and you can read the heartbreak on their faces thinking this would be their last time acting together. I still cry when I see it despite having already viewed it multiple times. As for your favorite character… hmmmm, tough one. I’m going with Zoe as the dark horse choice.

My favorite character is Kaylee. Her character and Jewel Staite‘s portrayal instantly put me in a good mood when she‘s on screen. That smile… She automatically makes me happy and that‘s cool I think. I also liked Jayne a lot because some of the most iconic humor in the show involves him. Unfortunately that has soured a bit because last I heard (years ago), the actor, Adam Baldwin, supposedly is not a nice person in real life. Haven‘t bothered to dive in deeper to check because I want everybody to be a happy family on- and off screen, and ultimately it‘s none of my business.

Message is the saddest ep. As you were already informed, they were told the show was canceled while they were filming this, so the actors knew and it showed during the funeral scene. "Hey! Go easy. Some of aren't as bad as Simon." - box of rocks. I think your favrourite is Book. He's so mysterious, and I can see him creeping into your mind to be picked at and unraveled throughout the day. River is also mysterious, but we just haven't gotten the tasty tid-bits of mystery regarding her nearly as much as Book. Mal is of course, my fav. Because I see so much of myself in Mal, and in Nathan as well.
