I think there is a lot of value in having so called filler episodes. In the Bad Batch, even if the overall story of an episode doesn't drive the season narrative forward, I agree that they do usually include bits that are important later, either important character development or connections/knowledge that may seem random now, but we discover are important later on. In some ways, it's kinda like Back to the Future. When you watch the movie for the second time you see all the hints at the beginning that show up again later. And yes, I agree, they will need a kid thief before the end of the season I don't know about Cid. My feeling at the moment is she just isn't loyal to those that work to her, rather than doing anything specifically nefarious. The last line from the Faster episode, with Cid loyalty "doesn't always go both ways". It feels like she is just about what benefits her. She helps you, you owe her. But if you help her, she does not owe you anything. My prediction for the rest of the season: I am thinking this lack of loyalty from Cid gets them thinking about going a different direction for the future (at the suggestion of Omega I suspect). Somewhere along the way will be another encounter with the empire, along with either Crosshair or Cody (or both. We will see them both again this season for sure). Hmm, at the start of the season, Rampart was hiding the squad's survival from Tarkin. Perhaps Tarkin discovers they are still alive and starts hunting them down, leading to a confrontation in the finale. That drives them towards connecting with Rebel forces of one sort or another and fighting the empire more directly in season 3 (I hope?). If Echo does not return to the group at the end of the season, either Crosshair or Cody (re)join the squad.
