I may have my quibbles here and there with this season, but House of the Dragon succeeded in getting me to care about Game of Thrones again. All the strong performances and memorable moments make this so much better than the last two seasons of GoT at the very least. It's amazing what good writing will get you, isn't it. I haven't read the book, so I also don't know what is coming. If I'm honest, my only real wish for season 2 would be no more pregnant characters. It never ends well in this universe, and we already got too many varieties of difficult birth scenes this season. No more please. Other than that everything is set up for a great 2nd season even though we'll have to wait a long time for it to get here.

Yeah , I don't need so many birthing scenes. I get that they need to show how dangerous it can be. But geez. I like the show a lot. The pacing bothered me. I feel like a whole season with the young girls would've been perfect. The time jumps were very abrupt. The story would be easier to follow if it were a bit more structured. I'm excited for the next season. I'm sure it'll be super Dragon heavy. But the consequences of Aemond/Vhagar killing Luke will be insane 😈

I believe season 1 was purposefully done as a prequel/character setup season to introduce everybody and set the stage for the next seasons. That's why there's a lot of time jumps and skips. I'm sure it will slow down from now onwards.

Well and also the first season only covers a small fraction of the book. All the time skipped is because literally nothing happens in the book more than like a sentence and they probably thought people would lose interest if they dragged things out that weren't important enough to even include in the book.

The original GoT series gives away huge spoilers to some of the major characters in this series, still worth watching it all unfold though.

I love the face from Jace when he got the info that viserys died while his mother is close to giving birth. In just a few hours he could be the number one contender for the throne and you see on his face the fear, the call for his duty but also the will to be strong and to not let his mother down. Rhaenyra prepared him very well for this situation. He shows instant leadership qualities.
