You aren't alone in never even hearing about Partition before the show. Good ole American education system. I recall my High school history lessons ending with The Great War. Never even learned about WWII until I went to Uni. I knew about it, of course, but not from school. I had two grandfathers who had their own interesting Traumas from having volunteered.

So much to unpack in this episode! I loved the episode started with an old Bollywood song over the Marvel intro. The song is from the 1949 Bollywood film Dillagi. The film stars Suraiya and Shyam, who also sing the song. Suraiya was one of the biggest female Bollywood stars in the 40s. It was clever when the "documentary" in the beginning mentioned the Independence of India all began in 1942 and then cut to Aisha being chased by a British officer, which was also in 1942, but that was not what the documentary was referring to. Although, there had been struggles against British rule in India throughout the British occupation, the big independence movement called "Quit India Movement" was officially started in 1942 by Mahatma Gandhi (that is why the documentary showed Gandhi right before it cut to the chase scene.) The double migration of people resulting from the Partition was tragic. Thousands of migrants who could not make it to the train migrated on foot. Hindus left Pakistan for India while Muslims left India for Pakistan. The British not only divided their colony into two countries, they also left India one year earlier than they were supposed to. They were initially meant to leave India in 1948 but they left in hurry in 1947 because they did not want to have anything to do with the cultural war that resulted from the Partition. The actors who play Aisha and Hasan are both popular movie/TV actors in Pakistan. Fawad Khan, who plays Hasan, has also starred in a few Bollywood movies in India. It is a pity Disney+ is not available in Pakistan (it is only available in India). Pakistani viewers can't watch it on TV in Pakistan. I heard they are showing Ms Marvel in theaters in Pakistan. I am very psyched for the season finale. They still haven't shown why Aisha was ostracized by her own community and family. They have not explained why Aisha supposedly bring "shame" on her family. I am also intrigued about Kamran's arc. So far it is quite different from his character in the comics. I wonder if they will keep it that way. And finally, they HAVE to set up something with Captain Marvel or Monica as they all will be together in the Marvels next year.

Would it be possible to add the missing tags to this post (like "Full Length Reaction" and "Ms Marvel") :) ? It would make it easier to find (but no worries if it's not possible to add them :) ).
