"I don't know why I use that accent." - We all use that accent discussing high quality meats.

David Vandervliet

If no one has told you yet. The actress playing M’Lee, Francesca Buller is also known as Mrs. Ben Browder

Aeryn and the baby is so good. I love that something that happened a dozen episodes ago is still affecting her, that it truly did change her, even if they don't feel the need to explicitly say "Aeryn's Pilot DNA means she's a hybrid too".

David Vandervliet

1). Born to bone. lol 2). Zhann did the cloak back in the Blood Runs Clear, when hiding from the blood trackers.

Scorpious losing his cool isn't as scary as you think. It humanizes him more than anything else. It shows he's more than a one dimensional character by holding in the outburst until after 3 episodes of Crais belittling him. It only surfaced when Scorpy was accosted and he quickly controlled himself instead of clearly being able to end Crais right there. It wasn't beneficial for him to kill Crais it also shows his adherence to duty. Scorpy internalizes his emotions to control his situations instead of being led by his emotions, like Crais. He's a lot scarier in my opinion when he's calm and composed in certain moments. If he just came in snarling and guns blazing it would have been comical, coming at you at his own pace with a plan is some next level head games. You're starting to catch on that nothing is ever as black and white as it seems. This was a whiplash episode of twists and turns

NGL this is the episode i always forget... not that i think its bad, just not very memorable in my opinion

Michael G. Munz

There's a hilarious outtake from Anthony Simcoe right after Pilot and Moya ask Aeryn to name the baby. I'm not sure if outtakes count as spoilers or not so I won't say what he said without permission first. (It's not a story spoiler; only a spoiler in the sense that it would spoil watching the outtakes fresh.)

David Vandervliet

It does sort of stop the flow of the narrative that begins in bugs life and runs through the finale. The story about the plant asteroid just sort of happens

I love this ep, so much character-building.

Mrs. Browder is really good at playing weird aliens. And also at being really patient in the makeup chair, I would suspect. Scorpius is a strange and complex villain, and I'd forgotten how early the show demonstrated that - he's calm and collected and impossible to rile... until he's not. And he can show compassion, or at least some kind of interest that doesn't immediately involve torture, when he wants to. Compared to Crais's instability, I bet the crew of that Command Carrier are mostly delighted to have a new boss. Aeryn is almost Zhaan-like in her own empathy and gentle exploration of Boya. There's a confident peace and intellectual curiosity about her that we would never have expected when the show started. She has an immediate affinity for the baby that comes from their shared identity - Peacekeeper and Leviathan - that I can't imagine she'd have been comfortable with in the first half of season one.

Rory Owens

The A-plot is kind of a dud, for me. Going back to a monster of the week after the last couple of episodes felt jarring, even though the B and C-plots were linked to the larger narrative.

Some0neElse

yeah exactly! It does feel out of place in between episode 20 and 22. Otherwise the story can be solid

Jocan2

Boya? (Moya) right?

funnylilgalreacts

Aeryn and Boya 😉 felt very emotional to me. I adore the relationship they have. Scorpius showing he can get mad is one thing, keeping cool is another. That ability to be indifferent to get what he needs is scary to me.

Angela…I am supremely frustrated with work and I’m this close 🤏🏻 to throwing up my hands and saying fuck it all. I had A Shit Day and somehow missed that this ep was uploaded early. but you’ve legit turned it all around and put a big smile on my face. thank you 🙏🏻🥹☺️

TalynStarburst

You were way ahead of John in figuring out that Zhaan was a plant, but he came through and was ahead of you in figuring out what Bernie was up to 🙂

Sone

Well this was a nice surprise . Wasn't expecting this until tomorrow , but hey no complaints . Can't wait for season finale next week .

Seizure Augustus

In any other show, this episode probably would have seen a return to familiar formula with Crais reasserting himself as the primary antagonist after having endured what would have been just a very bad weekend at Scorpy's. On the contrary, Scorpius' appearance on the command carrier proves that the show's dynamic has irrevocably changed, and that there are future indignities in store for poor Captain Crais. I really love their interactions in this episode; Crais broken and bruised, trying to reassert his idea of control back on his life, while Scorpius practically manifests out of every dark, shadowy corner of the ship to further torment him. Their dynamic is actually kind of interesting at the beginning of the episode. You get the sense Scorpius might have been satisfied merely offering courses of action to Crais, that - if he had followed them - would have left Crais' command mostly intact. Instead, Crais publicly rejects Scorpius, which ultimately leads the latter to escalate matters until Crais is completely psychologically, physically, and professionally broken by the end of the episode. Scorpius really is pretty demonic. Once you get on his bad side, you're pretty much guaranteed to have the worst day(s) of your life. Really great acting from both Lani Tupu (Crais) and Wayne Pygram (Scorpius).

Seizure Augustus

Another lesson this episode imparts is that Scorpius doesn't need his aurora chair to break you down; he's perfectly capable of torturing his prey without it.

Jocan2

You hate Crais now, but you will begin to trust and like him later. My side your side we will see him again later.

sothcweden

On that note, Angela, would you prefer if I didn't share content from the commentaries anymore, even that which isn't spoileriffic? If you think you might watch them at some point, I don't want to spoil the experience for you. Your reply to MM made me realize. (reposting after initially posting in wrong place).

Esteban M.

It's funny how Scorpy doing things by the book with rules and regulations can seem truly sinister. Like you said Crais would have been fine if he took his advice. It wasn't even a pettiness or jealousy from Scorpious, because he could have turned in Crais after the Aurora Chair. He kept it in his pocket until Crais got in the way of his goals. Strictly business, nothing personal.

pat on

in real life John and the bone eating girl are married

Darth Muppet

One thing I love about Scorpius(and one of the reasons he’s my favorite character on the show) is that he breaks so many of the rules when it comes to what a typical villain is supposed to be. He’s definitely the antagonist of this story and does TERRIBLE things to achieve his goals, but he’s by no means evil. That makes him ten times more frightening to me. It’s hard to really say too much else about him without spoiling what’s to come.

Gambit3838

Your reactions are just the best genuine ones out there by far. Just saying. (Side not since you love space shit like there's nobody's business I recommend Andromeda. Was on at the exact same time as this and was 5 seasons of madness lol)

Dave Thomas

Naming the creature "Br-nee" is a tribute to Bernie Wrightson who was the artist for Swamp Thing. (likely someone already mentioned this, but reiteration is no sin)

Anders Thomsen

Born to Bone? You have a one track mind, Angela
