Experiments on Stockings (Patreon)

In the past weekend we took some time experimenting with approaches to depict stockings of higher Denier value.

Conventional method - base color map with tilable normal and roughness detail maps will inevitably cause Moire pattern, which is devastating to visual verisimilitude. 4K maps, on the other hand, impose a heavy burden to performance, especially for translucent objects such as stockings.

We are still weighing the options.
