DMAIC isn’t the only conglomerate with an interest in colonial affairs - Yinglong Industries, its biggest competitor, is a konzern of gigantic proportions dealing primarily with asteroid mining and terraforming. Yinglong pursues naught but efficiency and speed, a design that extends to their cyberdoll models. Passing the Total Turing Test is not a major concern, unlike their rivals at DMAIC, and they concern themselves primarily with manufacturing cost and rugged durability.
Yanshi effectively is an android developed to create other androids. Conceptualized as a prototype project to determine if AIs could replicate traditional “human creativity”, Yanshi was an applied AI without a physical host. After successfully designing several fully-functional automata for various laboratory applications, Yinglong decided to transition her into a cyberdoll to learn from and experience real world information and demands.
Just like the sister model Juzi, Yanshi's prosthetic limbs are a result of a modular design philosophy: said limbs can be easily replaced and changed out to meet the demands of various environments.
As she was not originally designed as an artificial general intelligence, Yanshi’s emotion modules aren’t particularly compatible with her cyberdoll body, leaving her outwardly seen emotions fairly muted. Despite her expressionless face and monotone voice it’s not as if she entirely lacks emotion - she’s just a touch inexpressive. After all, deep down she's still that shy little girl in the lab.
