Founded in 1690 and located in Arkham, Massachusetts, Miskatonic University is considered one of the oldest and foremost research universities in the United States. It ranks among the most prestigious in the world, especially well known for its vast ancient manuscript collections. This institution of higher learning offers doctoral degrees in the humanities, social sciences as well as STEM fields and is preeminent in archaeology, cosmology, psychology, and anthropology studies.

Notable alumni include legendary occultist & writer Randolph Carter, his sixth-generation descendant & CEO of Daidalos Military Academic Industrial Complex Elizabeth Carter, and the hierarch of the Church of Starry Wisdom, Asenath Waite.

Miskatonic University is currently leading an extraterrestrial research expedition program on Yuggoth, with the Neo Arkham campus situated in its namesake city and Neo England colony capital.
