Founded in 1690 and located in Arkham, Massachusetts, Miskatonic is considered one of the oldest and foremost research universities in the United States and among the most prestigious in the world, especially well known for its vast ancient manuscript collections. This institution of higher learning offers doctoral degrees in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields as well as a wide array of professional degrees and ranks high in archaeology, cosmology, psychology and anthropology.

The legendary occultist and writer Randolph Carter and his tenth generation descendant - Evelyn Carter, the CEO of Daidalos Military Academic Industrial Complex - both graduated from Miskatonic.

Miskatonic University is currently leading an extraterrestrial research expedition program on Yuggoth, with its Neo Arkham Campus situated in the namesake city, the capital of Neo England Colony.
