Child of the forest

Just like you mentioned, I really love that it's set in Germany. And even though I'm not German, it feels like they've captured Germany and it's ominous side in the best and most gripping way possible. Studio madhouse really was something else in this era. Incredible first episode and incredible discussion. So excited to go on this journey with you. Cheers!

If you're interested by Urasawa's universe, There have been indeed yesterday a trailer of Pluto. Its by the same producer of Monster: Maruyama, Masao who is also the founder of Mappa. The story is a reinterpretation of astroboy the biggest manga from Osamu tetsuka who is probably the most important figure in the manga's world. If you are a fan of blade runner I think you would like it.

Okay...I guess it's finally time for me to start this anime! I'm in the middle of 15 other shows, so I guess one more isn't too bad 😂 I had no idea this is set in Germany! 😊👍

I'm starting this one too, I could have watched more in the break but I just felt to go at the same time with this one lol. This first episode did got me interested, so I'm hopeful about the rest of the series.

Finally, we're starting this. Like you said the atmosphere is so great in this. It's realistic and gritty and it's got that eerie feeling to it which I really like. They've also been able to capture the feel of Germany, which just aids with the realism. My favorite part about the pilot is that the show doesn't give you a clear answer on what it's about. The title is ominous for sure, but we're just thrown into one man's life and are left to tap in the dark when it comes to the direction we're heading.

Oh my goodness, after 6 long years it finally happened. Enjoy, brother!

THIS IS IT! This show, AoT, and Vinland are the three shows I’ve needed a reaction to from you. And now, finally, all three are together baby.

Hmm hmu

guillermo del toto wanted to make an HBO miniseries of this for the longest time but like many of his planned projects it didn't make the cut I don't think it needs one per say because it is already like an HBO series in animation form but that would have been interesting for sure

Based on the overall atmosphere of this anime and just how grounded the setting is, I always found this story to be a somewhat "soothing" experience. Which is kind of ironic due to the type of story being told. I feel the ending song especially encapsulates that feeling well.

As far as I know Maruyama also created Madhouse for a similar reason he created Mappa later on. He wanted to do more unique stories and greenlit almost every project, that's why 2000-2011 has the best Madhouse animes cause sadly sometimes between 2009/2011 it got bought by a company and since then it produced a lot of content with dogshit scheduling and at some point it just broke down. Last good Madhouse project was One Punch Man in 2015 but in the newest season it seems like they worked on a romcom series which is supposedly really good. Maybe we can expect a mild comeback from them. Sadly that fate of Madhouse also went over to Mappa it got bought by another company in 2019 and is now also producing content beyond understanding. I mean they produce everything. It is just a question of when it will break down. And after the whole Mappa deal Maruyama created his third studio only wanting to animate Pluto. After years and years this year it will come out
