Your pronunciation of arnheid is correct I believe. At the very least that's how i pronounce it.

The music you said sounded familiar is very very similar to the same type of strings used in attack on titan during the more light hearted scenes, especially around the beginning of season 1. It’s very immersive and sells the period piece aesthetic ☝️🤓

Ketil's one of my favorite characters, since he's so fascinating. Yeah, there's the loose parallel to Thors about hating violence, but just without the strength or will to back it up. Thors is this near perfect character that we meet in the beginning and he's the embodiment of the themes of this story. But none of the characters truly reach his level, whether that be in his skill as a warrior or his steadfast belief in his ideals. They all come close in some aspect or another, but Thors is still out of everyone's reach. Ketil, while being the boss of this farm, has a hard time actually being the leader. It's obviously shown in this episode, but also throughout the season with the retainers bullying Thorfinn and Einar or even Snake's man doing what they want when he's not around. Sverkel is right in saying that this farm is way too big for them. Ketil's lucky that it all holds together as well as it does. Even Pater, someone that he relies on, sort of "betrays" him by suggesting the beatings. And the fish eye shot you liked so much of him was also in the manga. I was quite happy they kept that in the anime. And yeah, you gotta feel so bad for Arnheid. Just the change in her voice when she talks to Ketil compared to her talking to Einar. Also the scene of Einar being so happy that he got complimented again gets contrasted with the hard cut to Arnheid getting slapped. And finally Thorfinn smiling :') It gets me every single time, I love him so much and seeing him heal does wonders to my soul. Like others have said, do not worry so much about pronunciations of character's names. You're doing just fine with Ketil, Einar and Arnheid. Even we didn't really know how to pronounce some of their names before they got animated, unless we looked into it. Plus you've got the whole thing of Japanese actors pronouncing Norse or English names, so it's a messy thing from the start anyway. I get trying to get it right, but nobody's going to get mad over a little variation regarding that.

I could write a short novel on this episode, but my recent comments are already getting too long. To keep it simple, this episode was critical in illustrating how twisted this social system is: how inherent and normalized violence is. Even the master, who should be in full control and is "afraid of violence", beats the boy anyways. Continuing the theme that barbarity is the easy way out. As Thors put it, he is not a "true master".

Storyboard – Tadahito Matsubayashi Direction – Michiru Itabisashi https://i.imgur.com/LARZESS.png The second Matsubayashi-Itabisashi team-up of this season, third overall. Matsubayashi has already boarded more of this season than he did of the previous. He was way busier back when the first season was in production than he seems to be now, so I would bet he has more episodes coming up. I wouldn’t be opposed to him directing his own board down the line as well. I’m not that familiar with his work, but the prequel’s finale was super solid, so whatever portion of that he was in charge of was clearly good too. If I recall correctly his Horimiya #9 was also quite impressive. Itabisashi just keeps further securing her spot as the most prolific episode director of the series. Another strong one by these two. Bonus points for the ambitious fisheye shot. I forgot to bring it up on the fifth episode and I couldn’t find time to make a comment last week, but for the past three episodes Bamboo have been dividing their workload with other companies. Two Korean studios that worked with them on Chainsaw Man, as well as Studio Suuuu, a regular collaborator with Takeda on the first season of Vinland, Great Pretender, Vivy, the ongoing remake of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, etc. But yeah, these people do this for a living and know how to read layouts and artboards; there isn’t going to be any noticeable difference. You also brought up the “color design in the background,” so thought it’s a good moment to point out that it’s the art director who’s responsible for that particular part of the overall color design. The ‘color design’ role in the credits is only about the animated layer (the part colored by the finishing department), whereas the ‘art director’ role pertains to the backdrops and nothing else - very different from the art directors found in live-action, but crucial nevertheless. They do both partake in meetings during pre-production with the author and series director to make sure all of their ideas mesh well, etc. And here’s this for whoever cares: https://i.imgur.com/lWgY828.png
