It gets overshadowed by pretty much everything else in this episode, but that scene where Hawkeye speaks to Mustang through code and he learns about Selim is genuinely one of my favorite moments in the entire show. It’s just really cool and satisfying to see them communicate in such a way, and so effortlessly at that. They honestly have to be one of the best anime duos ever lol

I'd definitely agree, this show's great for a second watch through...and a 16th watch...but that's beside the point :D

see that's why is one of my favorite episodes lol. to fully know the backstory of Hohemheim, the complicated story he has with "father", How similar Ed and Hohenheim are, like not only physically but personality, like Hohenheim thinks way back when he and Ed saw each other by Trisha's grave. Olivier being so badass and of course Roy and Riza using code which is one of my favorite scenes ever. oh and Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, was a swiss alchemist and physician, so a little nod to him haha

So hyped for this, I’ve been waiting for this episode ever since seeing episode 1 in my sub box. It’s the “That Day” of Fmab

Wow, I just love this episode and everything about Hohenheim! All the backstory episodes with him are some of my favorites.

Storyboard – Yoshimitsu Oohashi Direction – Shuuji Miyahara Animation Supervision – Tetsuya Kawakami https://i.imgur.com/tKOar3F.png Ah yes, the “flaskback.” One of my favorites of the series. Love the multi-layered shot compositions. Great depth perception from the layouters is necessary with a board like this - and as such, three of the series’ four main animators are credited with help from a handful of Telecom veterans. Many viewers won’t realize it since there’s no flashy action to be seen, but this is about as high priority as it gets on the animation front in the midst of a continuous five-cour TV production. Super demanding board with many fore-mid-background cel dominant shots, high angles that will create proper three-dimensional spaces that are not easy to stage on the layout, etc. That camera-mapped shot of the Flask and Hohenheim through the window! Glad seeing this utilized over and over again in this show as it’s so seamless. Also loved how throughout the scene the tempting Flask is in the sun while Hohenheim’s in the shadowy corner. Oohashi is unappreciated. His ideas rarely disappoint, and I’m happy to see him show up in whatever I’m watching. This was his fourth (25, 27, 35) board and there are three more coming down the line, out of which one seems to always be in the running for people’s episode of the series. He also did the opening the show just switched to. Let’s hope he returns to Vinland (16, 21) as well. I remember you tweeting a screencap from 21.

Really great episode, definitely a defining episode for FMAB and one of the best of the show. Seems like you forgot a after credits scene, prob cause you didn't expect to get more after THAT kind of episode lol It's understandable
