The animation in this show is so good and smooth that it’s easy to forget you’re not watching actual people. The microexpressions each character has are just absolutely incredible, to the point where some people were wondering if it was mocapped 😂

If you are interested in the behind the scenes of this show. There is a series of stuff on youtube about the production of the show. Though I wouldn't check it out until after you're done :D

Oh man, I’m so excited for you to experience this! Definitely among the best things I’ve watched in the past few years and I have a hard time coming up with a list of anything better. I don’t know jack about the game this is based on and it didn’t hinder my enjoyment one bit - viewers should be good on that front. There are so many people I know who don’t even give this a chance because they “don’t know anything about the game” that it has honestly started to bother me, lol. It’s directed by Pascal Charrue and Arnaud Delord. Writers are American, but the rest of the creative team is pretty much as French as it gets. The production is firing on all cylinders throughout, which is the result of giving proper funding and resources to a talented team of creators. Just the effects animation is hand-drawn, rest of the animation is CG, backgrounds are digitally painted. The virtual camera has to be one of my favorites about the medium of CG animation as you can shove it into any nook or cranny you have and hone a shot to pixel perfection in the last seconds. A cheat code medium for the art of blocking and staging a shot and it’s utilized to its fullest on this show. But yeah, it’s no anime, so this token anime production nerd of the comment section is mostly just gonna be lurking, watching, and liking your content across platforms. Let’s hope a lot of new people find your content through this! One thing I can share is that one of the two production designers is Kevin Aymeric, who is the art director of Ping Pong the Animation. He also soloed all the backgrounds for a Space Dandy episode and is part of the production designer duo for the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel, which has to be one of my most anticipated things for this year! He also tends to share a bunch of his work over @AYMRC on Twitter. Massive follow vouch just for the occasional Ping Pong backgrounds alone.

also the Enemy music video, it’s animated exactly like the show is (with the characters included) but there are definite spoilers so I would recommend waiting check it out until after this season’s over

Will Watches

I am so increasingly hyped for this, and all the discussions, one thing I’ll say is this show has an amazing OST with each episode having a song by a big artist written for it (I’m sure you’ve heard the imagine dragons, but I won’t spoil who else is here, there’s definitely other artists you’ll recognise, so keep your ears peeled)

Isaac

Most suggest the music video be watched just before episode 7!

Chelle

yeah I didn’t know anything about League either when I watched this show, not even Jinx lol

Excellent analysis!!! I'm so glad at how you understand things so well, punctuating how human nature is at the core of it. And I also love that you mention that Vi is a leader, a big sister, an almost mother figure, but keeping in mind that she herself is still young experiencing severe traumas as well, thanks for that.

Sloopgamer

I'm prob in a very small minority with this opinion but didn't enjoy Arcane that much. I mean it's still a solid show the Directing and Animation is insane, the music isn't for me sadly but the Story itself didn't blow me away but I'm still interested in seeing your analysis to this

Anonymous

Definitely keen for Im to react to that music video <3 Such amazing animation and just a great song <3

Chelle

I recommend checking out other analysis videos on the show, there’s honestly a lot of them and they all cover a lot of different aspects and even interpret things differently. It might help you understand better why people like the show as much as they do

Anonymous

Arcane’s probably the best piece of animation he’s reacting to on his channel

Sloopgamer

@GrafitiTurtle I understand why people love the show, I just expected something groundbreaking which it wasn't for me

Chelle

@Sloopgamer fair enough, I could understand why someone may not initially be impressed (tho I definitely was), but the more I thought about it the more I appreciated everything that went into… well everything lol. I’d like to go into further detail but for the sake of not spoiling others I’ll just leave it at that

Sloopgamer

@GraffitiTurtle For me it's the other way round, I enjoyed it initially much more than now, but the more I rewatched certain scenes.....you get what I mean Think we should let it rest, let us enjoy FilmBuFF’s take on Arcane!

Chelle

Interesting, that’s definitely not a take I’ve heard before lol. And I will say that I think everyone can pretty much agree that it was groundbreaking animation-wise at the absolute least. But yeah I’m interested in finding out Im’s thoughts on everything moving forward

Sloopgamer

100% agree on the animation/directing part, though I know some people with a similar take XD

Those shows while good have to much “anime flare” for me. They don’t rely on visual storytelling like Arcane but rather exposition, which hinders execution.

I also feel in the minority with this opinion. And I've watched a lot of analysis videos. But there's still something missing in it for me. The storylines and character arcs are well-constructed... but they feel almost too constructed. I don't know. I can't put my finger on it. But I think Season 2 might be more out there and allow me to connect with it more. Time will tell.

Glad you are checking this one out! Arcane is a masterpiece for me, although it does have certain things I wish they did better. Certain plot elements, and couple of character arcs. About characters I have my take. As a fan of the game, and someone who knows the lore and the characters, I probably tend to follow the character writing more than other people who hasn't play the game. And in that way Im critiquing this show, they really made one particular character dirty by just not getting the conclusion for them, but all the stuff about them was just incredible knowing what's result going to be. If I'm making sence. They've 'reserved' this character's story for season 2 for sure tho. I don't know how much you want to know about the world of this show. Cause definetly we could say a lot, the world of LoL is MASSIVE. This one season covers the part of the story of about 10 playable characters (out of like 145) and one location out of like 10. They honestly could produce about 50 more seasons like this easily. So yeah it's like huge, it's the world that was being built for more than a decade now. I think we shouldn't overwhelm you too much, cause you know there would be a lot of people who would tell you a lot of lore, which they think is not spoiler, which it isn't honestly imo, but it's just unnecessary at this moment. You probably will encounter a lot of those in YT comments. I will say tho, the Arcane story isn't exactly treated as 'canon' by lore nerds. There are no 'story based games' in development as we know. We have MMO in development but that is more like 2027 vibe. There is a game which I wouldn't call exaclty "story based" 100%, but it certainly close to it. It's called "The Ruined King", you can check it out on Steam, I'm just not sure you'll like the gameplay bit. For a fan of the lore it was a massive game, the story is amazing. It has not a single connection to Arcane, a couple of easter eggs here and there, and Piltover name being dropped here and there sure, but there aren't any links to Arcane's characters.

Shmengels

I am so glad you're watching Arcane. There's not much I can even say other than it being one of the best animated series there is by pretty much every metric. They put a lot of care into making it and it deserves to be seen, so I will never draw issue with someone coming around to it no matter whether anyone thinks the "hype has died down" or some nonsense.

Yees, it's finally here! So hyped for your reactions! Welcome to the world of Runeterra my friend. Indeed, there is one story-based game called "The Ruined King" which focuses on another region, though I think there's still quite a bit of gameplay. I haven't played it yet but I heard good things about its story. If you're into books, I would heavily suggest reading "Ruination", a prequel to The Ruined King (but you don't need to know anything about it). It has JUST been released to book stores worldwide and it is amazing. I would mention more but I'm sure many others will do that. I really hope you don't get overwhelmed by all the recommendations, the world of Runeterra is massive. Take your time, watch Arcane and if you're ever interested in more, there's plenty. And if you choose to react to any of it on your channel, we'll watch 😆✌️

Im so happy u are watching this show ^^. There was concern about season 2 not being as good as season 1, but after the behind the scenes documentary im not worried at all. The showrunner Christian Linke is a legend and wont let that happen.
