Hohenheim's scotch whiskey by the fire proves the canonical existence of Scotland in the FMAB universe and I won't hear otherwise

oh boy really love how they do this recap

Kara the gamer girl from Mars

I can’t believe we’re 3 weeks ahead now, this is an exciting time for the Filmbuff channel 👏👏

The op isn't really safe until episode 34

Sloopgamer

Yeah, you're right episode 34 is the episode he should watch the op. Though he can watch the ending without a problem. There are no spoilers in there

😃✌🏼 I really want to make it a worthy experience for pre-existing long time Patrons and new ones as well. More to come in 2023.

From my understanding there’s alot of external reasons why recap episodes exist. Saving money, needing more time for future episodes, companies demanding them etc etc. Some animes will at least try to make them interesting by thinking up creative ways to make the episode engaging. This episode is one of the 2 in my mind that go above and beyond and make it an incredible episode in its own right. (The other one is actually in your to be watched list) Honestly episode 27 is one of the best episodes to watch with hindsight. Confusing in certain moments initially but god is it filled with some awesome character work and themes. Now while I love Let It All Out being used in 19, 22 and most definitely 26 … I think it is best used here in 27. Trisha’s beautiful speech with the scenes of Mustang, Ling, Al and Ed are just simply perfect for me. Again I weep soo much in that whole sequences. It’s also a perfect goodbye to the song with a new ED being introduced this episode. To draw a comparison to another show that you have watched I remember when I watched the AOT 3x11 with Carla’s “born into this world” speech with the ED playing in the background and immediately got FMAB flashbacks. Wonder if it was an inspiration for them.

A fun little fact for this episode, the name on the bottle Hohenheim was drinking from was "Stray dog", which was the name of Arakawa's first serious attempt at a manga :)
