That is so unfair to the Aot team. They are doing the best they can with what they have been given, and have to deal with Pony Canyon and Kodansha to meet their timlines, while Mappa has total creative freedom over CSM due to them funding the show alone

A few weeks back, roumers about Shota Goshozono directing ep 8 of CSM started popping up. For this reason alone ep 8 was the one I was looking most forward to. He is a newbie director having only directed a handful of episodes, but I have quickly fallen in love with his style. He is very ambitious in his work and I hope to see more of him when season 2 eventully comes around.

Storyboarded and directed by one of the most promising and highly talked about new directors - Shouta "Gosso" Goshozono, recognizable for his super spacious, fisheye-lens-like field of view shots. One would think some veteran showed up, but no, you can still count his episodes with a single hand. He made his debut as an episode director on Jujutsu Kaisen #8, and later directed his own board for the first time on #17. The remaining two episodes of his can be found on Ranking of Kings, a studio Wit production in which Arifumi Imai - a name you're familiar with - worked as the series’ assistant director. And someone’s presence hauled in a massive industry name into this episode: Masayoshi Tanaka - the character designer of Makoto Shinkai’s three newest films. As it's quite unexpected to see him show up here, and a lot of the industry works in a very Japanese, "you help me, I help you," kinda way, I’ll assume he was paying back for someone's work on the newly released Shinkai film. The ending is directed by Yuuki Kamiya, who loves his warm oranges and cold blues. He also directed the third ending.
