Amazing episode. I agree 100% with your take on the writing. Author knows her stuff for sure, everything is happening in a perfect time so on point. The only thing I could critique is the comedic moments. Maybe it's a matter of preference but just sometimes I feel like she could skip a joke or two. Although I enjoy comedy in this most of the times. Yesss huge moment for Riza here. I love how we can see now for sure how much she cares about Mustang. Also I think you might have forgot to mention Bradley here, although he wasn't really doing much here. But it's quite interesting that he backed off there, would like to hear your thoughts on this. This show has a habit of dropping these shit bombs in the end of the episodes sometimes. You think we good we chill we made it through and then you get cliffhanger like that. Screaming 'you better haste and watch the next one'. I'm so glad we are getting 2 of these per week. Get well soon, take care!

Fun fact: If I'm recalling the interview correctly, Arakawa has actually said that the only reason she made Jean Havoc a smoker was so Mustang would have access to a lighter for this specific scene. Incredible foresight for her series.

Also, have to say I completely agree with your Sub v Dub thoughts from the discussion. Lust and Mustang are voiced excellently in both Japanese and English, wonderful performances all round, but Romi Park's admittedly brief "sub" performance as Ed is in my view a clear cut above her English dub counterpart.

Episode 19 really seems to be the episode for a lot of people that makes them completely hooked on the story. It’s a complete ride from the OP to the ED. You’ve got excellent exposition running through out, hype as hell character moments, a serious character deaths and most importantly Mustang’s abs … don’t judge me! we all had a good look! 😄 I love how people react to Lust’s demise here, you’re not wrong in thinking that we are still in the early stages of the story. I mean technically we are in the first 3rd still. She felt like such a big opponent but yet (at least for me) it doesn’t feel like a waste. She served as a great first initial threat for our main crew. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it felt earned here. And that whole sequence of Mustang and Lust is such an iconic anime moment. Mustang really gets to finally show off why he is such a big deal. I shouldn’t be surprised that you really latched onto Hohenheim’s expression at the end but I’m soo happy you did. The way they were able to create such a complicated expression as your first look at the man… it’s pure brilliance and really well executed. Also, I went back to compare the sub and dub after your comment and I honestly think they have really great emotion in both. I really love both VA’s of Ed pretty much equally but to each their own. So excited going forward watching this with you! I just finished watching LM Reaction to the penultimate episode of this series today on patreon and I’m soo thankful I still have another amazing reactor to have this journey with. Can never say goodbye to this show! ☺️
