Ay nice and early

Season 7 is interesting. I won't say too much but they very much went for a blockbuster vibe, with each episode having its own poster released beforehand, exploring different genres and such

This episode is also interesting. For me it's a bit too much seemingly plain setup, punctuated only by a bunch of Dalek close-calls, when someone is almost exterminated but they manage to escape. It's not enough to save the sluggish pacing in my opinion. The Oswin Dalek plot is fun with a good twist, even if I think her character is a bit Moffat-y (extremely forward, flirty, bubbly, energetic, a genius, instantly in love with the doctor). Rory and Amy's breakup could be seen as finally some consequences for the whole Melody Pond story, but could also be seen as too little too late. A bit too much domestic abuse for my tastes, but Moffat does that a lot with his female characters.

A common criticism of this story as whole, aside from the obvious, is that this is insufficient for a Dalek story. Some people suggest "Asylum of the Cybermen" would make more sense, and I tend to agree, even though it makes the Oswin twist less of a twist.

One small moment I really love for some reason is Amy's response to the Doctor, "Scared? Who's scared? Geronimo" with that smile. The tone feels so perfectly ambiguous, where because of the split from Rory we feel as an audience a pang of aversion to this new attitude Amy has, because it feels like a regression back to S5 the way she's recklessly throwing herself into danger and enjoying it
