Hello everyone! It’s time to return to Dark!

Though I must deliver a bit of bad news as well, I ended up scrapping the rewatch portion altogether. I wasn’t able to execute it the way I wanted to, it didn’t turn out how I envisioned it. It wasn’t flowing, and it felt repetitive after a while, sort of like going through a check list of things that were noticeable in hindsight. Ultimately I decided that it’s not really something I want to put out.

That being said, the rewatch was really enjoyable and quite beneficial as well. I do plan on integrating those thoughts and notes into the discussion portion for these final 8 episodes, you will notice some of it through out this video as well. I look forward to applying it to relevant moments during the remaining episodes as Well.

Sometimes projects fail, and unfortunately, the rewatch segment was one of them.

Love the look of the 1880s timeline. Future Jonas looks like he's straight out of a Clint Eastwood western 🔥

I read that they used a monitor that displayed the mirrored sets so they could make adjustments in real time. Amazing to think about all the posters and book titles that had to be printed in mirrored text. Even the actors had to use their opposite hands to manipulate things. i don't get the costumes for school. They even had the twins from The Shining in the background. I guess Jonas walking into the classroom all bloody might have passed for a costume. No one seemed very concerned.

Regarding when you said they might’ve done more than necessary to let us distinguish the two worlds from each other, that’s right at the moment because they are introducing the concept for the first time so it seems there are too many distinguishing tools, but believe me when I say that almost all of them will come in handy. they needed to make sure that throughout the whole season you 1- quickly notice the transitions between the two worlds and 2- not forget which world you were in and which world you are going to. There are also some new places or places that didn’t get that much of screen time in previous seasons so you might not know when they are mirrored or not. Not to mention the possibility of traveling between the two worlds so it can be a bit tricky without constant reminders and distinct looks. And I actually think that the mirroring aspect was more of an artistic choice rather than a distinguishing tool.

the thing about the characters' natures (in the segment where you talked about Ulrich) is why I love the opening quote of this episode. It is so fitting for Dark as a whole. "man can do what he wills but he cannot will what he wills"

Oh I spoke of the doubling/mirror aspect of this in the discussion. I actually think it’s even more than an artistic choice, but what I was trying to say is that it can also be used as a distinguishing tool for the audience, wasn’t saying it’s literally just for that reason.

Rayan

Yeah I didn’t actually think you were trying to say that. I was just trying to emphasize this take of mine and how I think they went for the mirror effect as a “touch” in the first place maybe before even considering the distinguishing tools. Also yeah I still haven’t reached that point in the discussion segment yet, trying to savor the taste and not devour it with one bite😂

Let's see if we get an explanation of what happened to Wöller's arm. Since we have a running gag on the eye, I'd say chances are very slim on the arm. :) My theory is instead of a darts competition, he had an accident during an Axe throwing competition in the alt world. Those dang lumberjack games.

DARK is back! Lets Go! It's a beautiful thing (in a weirdly fucked up way) that yeah pretty much all the same things are happening in some form or another to illustrate to Jonas that he's not the problem with this world. He though so earnestly that he was the piece of this puzzle that was wrong or out of place, but it all still happens even when he's not there. Where he takes that lesson we'll have to find out! I think it also helps the viewer to not have to relearn this entire new world and instead give their attention mostly to the key differences, but the similarities can be just as important as the above point stands.

To me it was right out of BTTF 3 when Doc was making ice cubes, lol.
