Mark Sheppard is the actor for the episode companion he is in a lot of things and a really good actor, most people know him as Crowley in the shot Supernatural

This is one of my favourite Doctor Who two parters, and certainly amongst my most rewatched episodes! (My other fav two parters are Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead and Time of the Angels/Flesh and Stone.) And I especially love Mark Sheppard as Canton. It's hard to do better than this Tardis team!

I think the reason this episode stands out so much for being the first in a series is that we've already had a full series establishing these characters, so instead of having to worry about introducing a new character to the scene, they can just play with the pieces they already have. S1 had Rose and Nine, S2 had 10 (yes, 10 is technically the same character, but they're different), etc. The only episode that comes close to this concept is Partners in Crime, but Donna only had a special and was gone for the rest of S3. This Tardis Team has such great chemistry and I'm so glad they've stuck around! Also, River and the Doctor's flirting is dialed up to 11 this episode. Some really nice development from the Doctor's end, he's gotten comfortable with her, but not quite to the point that he trusts her. Some really solid stuff from Matt Smith and Alex Kingston both. Super excited to see what this series reactions brings!

The actor who plays the young Canton is the son of the older version

Sacha

The hype I felt when this first aired was crazy! I love this introduction to the new season, soo much happens in this one with different sections and it never feels rushed. I still rewatch that scene of all them in the tardis every now and then. Everyone’s banter and chemistry is fantastic! And then we have Matt who is being his playful self suddenly unleashes his serious Doctor side which is such a good whiplash. He really excels at it.

I love getting to see River Song's "Spoilers" Line from the other side of the coin. This time we DO KNOW what she's hiding from the Doctor and why.

I have no name

I don’t like how this episode didn’t have any monsters or aliens in it.
