Hey Im, looks like you're still looking away from the opening every time so I just thought i'd let you know that there's no more spoilers in there, so you're free to look. There is however a big spoiler in the second opening.

Found two instances of wrong translation in the reaction. It's no big deal, but mistakes are so basic, I'm just confused how could anyone make them. First one, it was not the Lord (not even written with capital L) being told to drop the sword, but it was the Lord doing the talking. So translator wasn't familiar with instance where subject of the phrase is reversed, eh? Then translator must be a native English speaker. Which brings another question. How did they miss it was a famous biblical passage?? Like, how? Did it not feel weird to have someone being described as Lord/master/owner/main to be talked down to? Weird mistake. Second one is even dumber. Askkelad clearly says Canute is the second in line, yet subtitles put him as first in line. How bro? How do you mess up 1 and 2? Apart from that subs are at the usual "why not/not bad" level. Another interesting choice was where Askkelad says "I'll be damned. It's not time to fade into sunset," or something along those lines. I'd do it differently. "Good grief. Looks like I ain't got time to sit staring into sunset." Because the verb 黄昏る has not only literal meaning of fading into sunset, but also means to be sentimental. So when I hear someone is 黄昏ている I imagine them sitting staring into distance with some melancholy. If it's not about a person then it's the literal meaning.

“Dawn in the age of twilight” I was already loving this series when I first watched it in 2019 but it was THIS episode that made me go ‘yep this will be in top 10 anime for sure’ and I was absolutely right. And as soon as season one ended I instantly went to the manga and it’s now one of my favourite stories ever.

I have watched this show on release and after I finished it I wanted to rewatch it right away. But I stayed patient so I could do it alongside you. Alongside someone who has a deep understanding of the show, someone who can read between the lines. It makes the experience way better, I really love to see how he appreciates the stunning imagery and animation of Vinland. Thats why I hope one day he will check out some of the amazing work done by Ufotable. Man would cream his pants lol.

Definitely. Thats the only "filmbuff caliber" anime among them. The unfortunate thing is that they only make flashy, colourful, action packed anime and the plot of those can't compete with AOT and Vinland. But no other studio does it better so they have to stick with it. Fate zero is 11 years old at this point. Don't get me wrong it still a visual treat and still remains competitive even today when it comes to animation. But I want him to watch that because its something he would like. When it comes to top tier a animation you have to look into their recent works (Heavensfeel trilogy, Demon Slayer). I just want him to watch some compilation of scenes in his free time as a fellow appreciator of the talented animators.

Also I heard That a different studio will work/works/worked on Vinland S2. I don't know the details but it makes me sad that WIT studio cannot commit until the end first AOT now This. Feel free to enlighten me if you have info I might do my research later though.

Its kind of sad that Wit Studio have moved on from Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga before completing them. But their latest adaptation "Ranking of Kings" is also visually stunning with amazing animation. I hope filmbuff reacts to it one day because it has some of the most complex character relationships in any anime/ medium ever, and I kinda want him to explain the plot to me lol

even if they change the animation team its easier to adapt for us since WIT only animated one season it was different with AOT when they dipped after so many years. Ranking of Kings eh? Well you got me interested there

its confirmed that MAPPA is doing the second season but many and in fact many of the ones that were in charge of animating season 1 of VS in WIT studio are now part of MAPPA so i wouldnt really worry :)
