This is an extended cut for Patreon. I’ll have to shave off 5 minutes for the YouTube cut, lol which is certainly going to be a challenge. Would love any input on what you think other Doctor Who fans on YouTube would probably like to see.

As you’ll see soon enough, the first half of the episode didn’t quite do it for me. But the long goodbye certainly did, so a large chunk of the reaction portion involves that.

Jenny!

I don't find it unsightly at all if you are crying a lot. I find it relatable. I am crying just as much too, ya know! Your content is so quality and part of it for me is your raw feelings as you watch. I am happy that there are people out there who care about stories and characters as much as I do. David Tennent was absolutely phenomenal. Enter Matt Smith! I think you're going to like this next season very much.

Goodbye Ten and hello Eleven!! (Matt Smith is my personal favourite doctor and has my favourite companion/s set up so I’m very excited for you to get to him finally) David Tennant acting was definitely phenomenal in this episode. You are right though I think Davies really struggles with ‘grand’ episodes but he really does excel in the quiet, intimate moments. I think people would prefer more of the goodbye segment than the first part for YouTube. Basically from the four knocks from Wilfred onwards. Even though the footage may be I guess ‘not balanced’ between the two halves .. it’s what people would want to see more of I feel.

It's been a wonder to watch your reactions to Tennant's Era, and the Davies Era as a whole. You've given me a brand new appreciation for the eras and I won't lie, I bawled watching this alongside you. That being said, I can't wait for the next era to come. It's going to be an absolute treat to go through it again through your eyes - and of course, Matt Smith makes a wonderful entrance for five minutes as the next Doctor here! My favourite part of the post-regeneration was his voice crack at "I'm a girl!", just makes me more excited for what's to come XD The best moment of the episode imo is the quiet moment on the ship between Wilf and the Doctor. Davies excels with those moments. And Tennant's acting, man he really sells it the whole episode. Ten, it's been an honour. o7

waters of mars and these two were the first dw episodes I saw, all back to back. I really enjoyed them and had no idea what was coming lol you can imagine my absolute shock. The good parts of this episode are just so GOOD. 'I think you look like giants' is one of the best tv and scifi moments for me ever...

The scene where we first see Matt Smith was actually written by Steven Moffat

The End of Time two-parter is so massive and grandiose and quite silly, and somewhat clunky in places like everyone has said. But still I completely love it. It hypes itself up SO much, with all its prophecies and existence level threats etc. It's like RTD set his sights on making the BIGGEST Doctor Who story possible, and honestly I think he achieved it. But of course, the more intimate moments are what it's all about. Tennant gets some incredible scenes. In RTD's book about writing the show, he talks about how his initial ideas for the end of this era was to do a very small intimate episode where the Doctor is stuck on a little ship orbiting the Earth (like the one in this episode). And the Doctor just has to sacrifice himself to save a few "unimportant" people. None of the Master/Time Lord/galactic event stuff. That would have been really amazing, but again, I do really enjoy what we got as well. Tennant's final goodbye is so beautiful and his final line is so tragic. I love that it doesn't wrap up neatly. Him saying "I don't want to go" means we can never comfortably shut the book on his chapter (to mix metaphors). It will always linger with us. Tennant himself said he didn't want to leave, but he was worried about overstaying his welcome as the Doctor. So yeah it feels perfect. Murray Gold's absurdly good score sings "vale decem", meaning "farewell ten". If I ever need a good cry, I just watch the final 20 minutes of this episode. Pure emotional destruction. I think you're right on with the woman being the Doctor's mother. I like that it's not confirmed (makes it feel unspeakably special), but there are definitely a number of hints in that direction. Can't wait to see what you think of what's next!

The woman at the book signing was actually played by the same actress who played Nurse Joan in Human Nature and The Family of Blood

It may have come out a bit harsh, but the bit about Matt Smith not being the same calibre of actor as Tennant was meant to be comparing them at that point in time. Tennant signing off and a young Matt Smith coming in, obviously very big shoes to fill at that point.

Tennant is and always will be my favourite doctor, it's probably nostalgia more than anything because I remember being a kid watching doctor who religiously on my moms iPad but when I rewatch these episodes it gives me a whole new appreciation for Tennant. Great reaction and discussion, you even got me a bit teary-eyed alongside you lol.

You’ll eventually feel differently I think. Wet feet and all that for Matt

I wrote a big comment yesterday but it seems to have disappeared. Maybe it was too long haha. Anyway the gist is despite being obviously so completely bombastic, man I love The End of Time. Massive and epic to a fault, then strips it all away and leaves us with one man who doesn't want to go. Brilliant. And I can't wait to see what you think of what comes next.

I've had this happen, someone said that it's because the Patreon system sometimes flags comments as spam =(
