PLEASE watch Fate/Zero as a Death Note replacement. only 25 episodes and extremely engaging, with some contemplative and philosophical themes! Incredible animation as a bonus as well. It's right up your alley.

"You don't have any enemies." If there's one line I'd have to choose to describe this show, this would be the one. Even if he didn't succeed, I absolutely love that scene of Thors trying to get that trough to Thorfinn.

I have a recommendation for a short anime. It‘s an underdog anime but you could see if it sparks your interest to maybe just get on the list: Rainbow: Nisha Rokobou no Shichinin
