Hello everyone, I’ve decided that I won’t be doing FMAB just yet. While I certainly still really want to watch it, I don’t think the timing is right for a long running series at the moment. I’ve been having second thoughts about doing a series that would take up an Anime slot for the better part of a year. Perhaps it would make sense to have FMAB take over the Long running Anime slot after Death Note.

I really want to try something recent, perhaps something shorter. So I will be doing a poll at some point, with three handpicked options, Vinland Saga will be one of them.

I’m back in a different capacity now and the Patreon campaign has grown quite a bit. It would make sense to see what all the active Patrons are interested in. I’m not even sure how many of the Patrons who voted for Death Note are still around, it’s been two years since then.

Steins;Gate is the only correct choice.

I second Steins;Gate.

What the hell is FMAB ...

Would love Demon Slayer, but it isn't totally in line with you're other channel content (doesn't really have any super deep or thought-provoking storytelling, but its a really enjoyable watch all around. And it's only 1 season).

Berserk!!

Vinland saga rocks. If you’re feeling a change of pace tonally, I saw mob psycho 100 on the list and it’s super funny, killer animation while also being really strong in its character and thematic writing

Anonymous

Hopping on that Steins;Gate bandwagon. Absolutely one of my top favorite anime regarding its story and I think you would eat it up!

Anonymous

Another - 12 episodes, Rokka No Yuusha - 12 episodes, Parasyte - 24 episodes, I think youve mentioned Cowboy Bebop a couple of times thats only 26 episodes.

Anonymous

Vinland, Steins Gate, Kaiji

EmboZam

Parasyte!!

melo

Vinland Saga would be a perfect anime for you to react to a nice mix of action and masterful storytelling

Anonymous

Vinland saga 100%. It's right up your alley. If not, cowboy bebop is my second choice

One Punch Man S1 - 12 Episodes (2015) Parasyte: The Maxim - 24 Episodes (2014) Another - 12 Episodes (2012) Erased - 12 Episodes (2016) Honorable Mentions: Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin - 26 Episodes (2010) Aoi Bungaku Series - 12 Episodes (2009) This is basically my all time favorites.

We'll see what the poll is ultimately, but I love that Vinland is for sure an option! Would love to see your reactions to that. Other short series to consider would be Psycho-Pass (only the first season, which is 22 episodes) or Madoka Magica (12 eps).

I get that starting a long series can be quite daunting, some of my favorites are rather long and getting through those one week at a time will take years. And yeah, I agree with the others Vinland would be right up your alley.

Sloopgamer

Vinland Saga, Steins Gate and Fate Zero!

Sarah S

Psycho pass s1 is one of my favorite anime seasons EVER. Can and should totally be watched as a single season experience too. Also has a fantastic dub. Just a bummer that season 1 is now a little dated - came out back in 2012-2013ish

RandomThorn

I know not everyone might be for it but with the second half of the second season of Re:zero airing soon, I feel like it is a really good choice. The show is great and has a current popularity wave going on. Steins;Gate is good, but I don't know if that counts as recent (Ultimately up to you, just thought I would mention). If you wanted something even shorter that is also really recent and popular, The Promised Neverland is a good choice as it is also getting a new season soon (should only get up to 24 episodes). Beastars is also a good choice but I don't know how people would feel about that one

Hassan

Maybe you could keep in the week one slot for a long anime and one for a short anime (exemple: tuesday:short anime and friday: long anime). like that we wont be stuck with 2 longs anime for months.

Sebastiano Barreca

Steins;Gate has my vote. But if you absolutely need something recent than I'd say The Promised Neverland

Anonymous

Man, this is some exciting news! I wonder if Steins;Gate is on the list since it only has 24 episodes, but idk if you'd consider 2011 to be 'recent'. Anyway, I think you'd love it.

Anonymous

I feel like Vinland will lose a popularity vote but it's perfect to replace the AoT slot.

Wolves

How do people like suzy lu(no hate on her) get away with doing popular entire series worth of reactions (naruto, naruto shippuden) without a single hiccup? How lucky lmaom I wanna know their secret. Is it the fact that shes in uk? Maybe depending where you are uploading from thats what affects it. Honestly shits mysterious to me. Sorry random

Anonymous

Since no one has mentioned it, Paranoia Agent with 13 episodes would be perfect for you 😊

Steve Bachman

I'm not sure if you talked about this before, but are you planning to watch AoT final season after finishing the current set?

Anonymous

yes, he said it in a patreon post that he'll start watching it in January after all episodes of s3s2 are released

Hassan

I see a lot of steins gate in the recommandations but its not that recent and its around 50 episodes with the 2 seasons.

Polygon

YEEEEEEEEEEES Vinland Saga!!!! Fingers crossed that Fate/Zero or Psycho Pass are on the list as well

Paradox

Why are people recommending Steins Gate? He specifically said he wanted to try something recent.

ErnieSlamJams

I would say Vinland saga, The promised neverland, and fate/zero would be some good options to think about

Squidlord

Dorohedoro, No Guns Life, Promised Neverland, Made in Abyss, Megalo Box (12-13 episodes) Dororo, Dr. Stone, both seasons of Mob Psycho 100 (24-26 episodes)

Anonymous

Steins;Gate (25 eps) or Promised Neverland (12 eps) are my suggestions!

Miss Mewiththat

Vinland saga is great. I think you'd really like The Promised Neverland too, right now it's only season 1 with 12 episodes. Or for something more lighthearted One Punch Man could be fun as well.

Anonymous

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Very good watches and right up his alley

Sh3nx

If you like good storytelling, you can try Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, Its an extremely interesting and sometimes disturbing Horror/thriller anime. the story its fascinating and very well made, but its kind of a fucked up anime tho. It last 26 episodes the first part, and it is divided in arcs. Its an old anime from 2006?, so it's not technically impressive, but its very well made. The subtle disturbing aspect, the perfect atmosphere and fascinating story are things that I´m sure you would like about it.

石原 悟

Yeah, Vinland Saga, Promised Neverland are both short and great. I'd like to add Kaiji there. Such an underrated piece. It's short too, though has two seasons, might do just first one. And while FMAB is one of my favorites, I'd really like to suggest Legend of the Galactic Heroes. 110 episodes for animated adaptation. Politics, history, human nature, it poses many excellent questions and explores them.

Anonymous

I'd love this. The novel is (like always) better but I still really dig the TV show, excellent blend of mystery, suspense and horror. Nice Twin Peaks vibes.

Vinland saga sounds awesome

Anonymous

Aot slot will be free around April. I think this is about an extra slot.

Anonymous

Vinland Saga is a great choice. Also by WIT and, in my opinion, looks even better then AOT S3B somehow, also a show that has a heavy focus on character, a bit of mystery and deeply emotional. The relationships between characters are complex and meaty. I think it's a very 'you' show.

A

Loved Vinland Saga! I was pleasanlty suprised by it

Anonymous

Tower of God is a great short series with tons of mystery, world building and layers to the story. Its manga/manwha is regarded as arguably the best to come from korea.

Anonymous

The 3 I would recommend short term are Vinland Saga, Tower of God and the Promised Neverland. However after Death Note you should definitely do Hunter X Hunter (and maybe 2 eps per reaction with it being as long as it is) 10/10 on all levels (music, story, characters, art, philosophy) and the best anime of all time in my opinion close with aot.

Anonymous

Kaiji is brilliant and Im would have a field day with it.

Anonymous

My votes are for Vinland Saga, Psycho Pass S1, and Madoka Magica. The last two are not very recent but they definitely hold up in quality despite being almost a decade old.
