Glad you also liked it. I think you gonna love season 2 even more, since it gives just so much more things to think about and speculate, cannot wait! :)

I hope you read this x I wanted to point out some differences within the manga version of this and the anime, some things I liked they changed, other things not so much. Okay so the first thing is they seemed to have oddly switched Erwin and Levi's personality around. In the manga Levi is far far colder and rougher around the edges, while Erwin shows emotion more and is much warmer, he also praises Levi for his skill a lot throughout the manga while the one in the anime looks like he's got a stick up his ass. For example Levi in the manga doesn't answer Erwin at all and doesn't even give his name until Erwin has his soldiers threaten Isobel and Farlan lives with swords at their necks, only then does Levi talk back to Erwin, however in the anime he gives in far to quickly which I thought was strange. Also one of the big things was that in the manga I could actually see why Levi eventually started to trust Erwin and Erwin to trust Levi yet honestly while watching this anime version, all I wanted to do was have Levi kill him, especially when Erwin called Levi pathetic, Manga Erwin didn't do that at all and actually sympathised with him in that moment and even gave this epic speech about how the titans are to blame for his friends deaths and how basically Levi should get revenge for his friends is by killing the titans. I honesty so sad they left that epic speech out in the anime and it was so tense as well as Levi had his sword to Erwins neck and it was only that speech that saved Erwins life at that moment.

I posted this as reply to the previous comment (Clare) but it disappeared :( Anyway it's Erwin's speech to Levi, which the other commentor talked about. I always share it with reactors after they watch this OVA, because it makes no sense to me that it was cut, seeing how important it is to Erwin's character and Levi's choice to follow him, the man who can see what he can't :'). This takes place when Levi attacks Erwin: “Who was it who killed my subordinates? Killed your friends? Was it me? Or was it you? […] It’s the titans! Where did they come from? Why do they exist? Why do they kill humans? I don’t have the answers. None of us do. Limited by our ignorance, we’ll continue to be devoured by the titans! If we just stay shut behind the walls, we are never going to escape this nightmare. Take a good look around you! No matter how far you go, there aren’t any walls here. In this open space, I believe there is something there, ***illuminating our despair***. But there are those who seek to prevent us from venturing beyond the walls. They are consumed by selfish thoughts of their own losses and gains from behind the walls where they are safe! It’s only natural. During the past 100 years, hindered by the walls, the eyes of humanity have been clouded. They cannot see the landscape that lies on the other side. ***But what about you, Levi? Will you let your eyes remain clouded? Will you kill me and return to the darkness of the underground?*** We will not give up our journey outside the walls. Humanity needs your strength! So fight for the Survey Corps, Levi! I’m not making a deal with you this time.” So I don't completely agree with the previous comment that Erwin wants Levi to get revenge, but rather that Erwin wants Levi to understand how important and necessary he (Levi) is to the fight against Titans (physical threat) and ignorance (non-physical threat), and to understand WHY that fight is important. Would love if you were to share your thoughts on it some time!

To be fair the original author of AoT dind't write the manga for these OVAs, but he is pretty involved in the anime production, so I'm pretty sure he requested some changes to better fit the main story, but some omissions do seem a bit weird.

Just to clarify, the "failed underground re-population" Armin was talking about was supposed to be under Stohess District where the Annie vs Eren fight happened. This underground city is located under Mitras, the capital. Districts are the towns placed on 4 sections of each wall.

Great reaction as always. Cant wait for ilses notebook discussion and season 2. Season 3 may come earlier. It may come july 8th instead of 22

That's for early screenings of episode 1 at Anime Expo and July 10/11 for theatres. Episode 1 is still airing in Japan on July 22nd/23rd, episode 2 on the 28/29th, etc.

Levis first expedition was 23. Now its 57. He has survived 24 expeditions when the death rate in each of those is about 40%. Glad you finally see a bit of his background. Now you know why he is such a clean freak and why he has the psychology that he has with death and decisions and such. Still there are more things to learn about him and his past but thats a great starter.
