Yes let's go

Karheem bamboo

Yes the names have some thought behind it. I suggest you look it up after the arc, I thought it was very creative

SPOILER : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : lm would probably find the healing part a spoiler. He does catch everything.

Ves

Dude he didn’t ask for anything…

nabeel

I deleted the above comment about pitous historical name origin. In reply to Ves, I recall him saying that if we had anything to add in explaining the history behind Pitous name he’d be open to it. Anyways I deleted it just in case. Definitely should check it out after the arc though

Serodin

Time to laugh in horror at Im's comment of "Good luck getting Pokkle to talk"

Jay

What an entrance from the first royal guard! Neferpitou's outfit is truly fitting for a royal guard haha

The image of the giant hand over Rammot's head is so striking to me. You really feel the power scale. Next episode discussion is gonna be so hype 👀 (I think it's ok for me to say this since you've already watched it) can't wait!

I think it's important to hear negative criticism you have, or it doesn't feel genuine. Nothing is perfect and I especially like to pick apart the shows I really REALLY love cause in the end the positives outweigh the negatives anyway, and it's engaging to think about how we could fix the "broken" parts. I've been thinking about mentioning how the narrator at the end of an episode will just give you meta information? But it's not as simple as telling you to skip or cover your eyes or whatever because the narration is part of the experience? I'm struggling a bit here so I'd love if you guys could give me your input on this. Because okay.... Togashi put this bit of meta information in because he wants to evoke a certain emotion in you, right? But then I feel like knowing this information NOW will lessen the emotional impact of it later, because I was "spoiled". Sometimes the surprise or shock that comes with a scene is important for it to hit hard. I can't say this is always the case, sometimes there are lines that 100% tell me what the outcome is going to be, but it builds anxiety instead, knowing what's to come and how horrifying/gratifying it will be, and that can also be good? I feel like in hindsight I end up with a fencesitter position of "well sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, it really depends <:)" BUT I know when I'm watching in the moment I don't want the meta information, because I want the surprise OR I want the satisfaction of figuring it out myself. I think what matters to me is the reason why I'm being given the meta info. If it's to evoke a feeling in a poetic way then I don't mind, but if it's because the author think he needs to hold my hand or I won't understand what's happening, then I always hate it.

I mean for me personally the narator never really spoiled anything. If anything he states the obvious. I also just love foreshadowing in story's. In HxH however these "spoilers" are even less of a spoiler i think and maybe even a misdirect. As we all know Togashi likes to play with expectations. I also think LM is a extreme case of someone who is super perceptive about spoilers and stuff. I don't think i have met anyone who is as sensitive about spoilers as him. For me the narator saying " A dark fate awaits gon kilua and kite" gives me chills. It builds the mood and it gives weight to the situation. And is already a given anyway. So is that really a spoiler?(is what i thought) But I understand if people don't like it. I truly beleive that Show Don't Tell does not have to be a super strict rule in story telling. But i understand if people dont like it. LM hating the whole Chrollo name reveal spoiler to me was a complete surprise. To me it made 0% difference watching the first time. I never even realized that someone would considder that a spoiler. To me it was just "a so his name is chrollo. Good to know". But that is part of the reason why i love this comunity i really get to see other peoples perspective. PS: narrator is HxH mvp. He can't do wrong. I wish he would narate my life. Come fight me if you disagree 😋😁😆

SatoruAkefu

I get what you mean, but someone like Im is really engaged and invested in the show, meaning he'll try to analyze everything that is thrown at him. So a finishing sentence from the narrator like "a dark fate awaits kite" is of course going to seem like a death flag to him. Same scenario with Chrollo. You could see how Im was invested in him because of the mystery that surrounded Chrollo. And then for the narrator to just drop his name out of nowhere kind of ruins the whole mystery factor. I also think it‘s not that big of an issue, since it barely happens and doesn‘t really influence the story in a negative way.

DrakDoodles

Yeah tsk, like at the extreme would I argue that foreshadowing is spoilers? That's ridiculous. It must come down to how it's delivered, and if it really needs to be stated out-loud when, like you say, it's already been building up (Like how Kite keeps having this "bad feeling"). I'm not even bothered by the bit in this episode at all, it just got me thinking about this in general and for certain future episodes.

Yinki

It seems that I am a minority here. I do not mind spoilers, but I still can't like the narrator. I'd like to feel and think by myself based on the visual/sound materials. I couldn't shake the idea that the narrator treated me like an inattentive audience. Yea, some or even all the lines in manga are better to show in anime, but this is too far :(

DrakDoodles

I definitely felt this at times and like I said in my first post, if it's only being said out loud cause the author feels like I'm not paying attention and needs to hold my hand, then I don't like it either. I only got that feeling a few times though, low enough that I can say I like the narration overall. It's more like reading a book in how it conveys character's feelings and thoughts from a third perspective.

Kon

Oh yeah such a lovely psycho catgirl (she's purrrrrfect) Neferpitou is a very cool name but I'm excited for you to meet all the royal guards! I hate Rammot with all my guts but I find his aspiration to be king hilarious...it was instantly shattered by one of the RG's. I think constructive criticism are things to look forward for any media you consume. I don't believe HxH is perfect in every shape of form even though it's a masterpiece in my eyes. If someone doesn't like the inclusion of the narrator, or thinks the pacing is too slow, or the are too many ants, I think is all fair things to point out. I have also my own complaints, head scratching, double-takes with the series but that doesn't diminish my love for the series though. Keep up the good work I'm throughly enjoying the long reviews. This is a very fun arc with so many enjoyable characters.

Moonblade
