Hey all,

Here's the script for this video - I left in a lot of the things that I cut out when transforming it into video, so it might be fun to read even if you've already seen the video.  The parts that are in the attached script but not in the video are highlighted in yellow.

How the Internet Redesigns your Mind | Choose your Default Mode

This video is about the choice we constantly have to make throughout the day now that we have the internet in our pockets. ▲Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/WILearned ▲Twitter: https://twitter.com/jeverettlearned (The irony of me inviting you to follow me on the platform I just ridiculed for promoting distractibility in people is doing well.

This is an awesome video, and everything you say makes sense, but I wish you had sources listed again so I could read more into some of the topics that seemed interesting, like how the spread of books increased concentration throughout the literate population. Also, I should say that I love your videos, they have been very inspiring both in their content and in form of how to effectively communicate scientific information and translate it into modifying real-world behaviors. I have a class at University College London called "Psychology in the Real World" and the format of these videos, as well as some of the content, has been very helpful in helping me write about how the internet and social media impacts the different stages of the creative process (mindless brainstorming, focused attention, and social interactions in particular).

Hey Joseph, HUGE thanks for the great content and especially your video (+script) How the Internet Redesign your Mind! I finally realized my long-lasting struggles for lack of focus, concentration, and productivity - at home AND work. I used the Internet and it's stimulating information as a refuge to compensate my inner void, so I think you can call it some form of depression. Many people in my environment struggle with that same kind of distractive overstimulation. But being not aware yet, that they actually do. With this in mind, I think our society (especially the younger generation) will have a hugely increasing problem when it comes to using their brain effectively. But maybe that's exactly what "some people" out there want...
