Page 18 Progress (flip sequence) (Patreon)

Here's a peek at some of my page planning for Pg 18. This was a difficult sequence to nail and required some experimentation.

This page is an important beat for the story and basically closes out the first act of Chapter 2. I really wanted this scene to have impact and to reinforce the idea that Chapter 2 is about Sharlene. In response to Billy's goading I have Sharlene defiantly flipping down from the 2nd story of the High School commons area to confront him on the floor.

I tried a couple of things first including some parkour leaping poses that I sourced from online references (left). Unfortunately, while cool, these didn't carry the feeling of impact that I wanted. Instead I decided to try a sequential front flip motion that I thought would further strengthen her character and identity as a cheerleader.

While sequence 1-4 link up nicely, the 5th frame is out of the shot. I'm experimenting with using some compositional elements to get the eye there, but we'll see how it goes. A lot of this stuff is experimentation and these early decisions really effect the outcome. Nonetheless I think this page will be pretty exciting and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you soon!
