Some Early Aircraft Concepts (Patreon)

Went digging around in some folders, found some old treasures.

First image is one of the early (2017?) Clip Studio drawings I did while trying to figure out the design for the Fenathkin military's battleships. I had been playing with that eagle-like sharky prow for a while, but it went through some really insane phases like the one you see here. The idea for the lower part of the ship to open up and reveal a devastating energy cannon was inspired a bit by the jaw parts on the Magitek Armor in Final Fantasy 6.

2nd sketch was drawn during one of my autopilot sketching sessions in 2016 or 2017, exploring some craft that appear in the later part of the story when things take on some Evangelion levels of weirdness for me. The design is a little too cyber-clean for me to use now, but I keep coming back to it and getting ideas for how to reboot it for the look I have now.

Sketches 3 and 4 were where I was still trying to figure out how the smaller aerodyne craft in the comic would look like. I couldn't decide if they should look like flying cars, those vanships in Last Exile, or like regular planes. The checkerboard pattern was there from the start though, and making ships look like they had ridiculous faces.
