Sgt Rek and the Colonel have the most difficult figures for me to stay on-model with; Rek because he's huge and I have a tendency to draw characters with tapered-anatomy (ie: smaller hands/feet, bigger mid-areas), when he's supposed to have that Humberto Ramos early 2000s Image Comics big-fisted chunkiness to him.

The Colonel on the other hand is hard because:

- She's got digitigrade legs (normally that "Zootopia Plantigrade" look is easier for me)

- Not just female anatomy but a specific kind of uncommonly athletic female figure.

- Her freakin almond head shape

- THAT BERET, how does it sit properly on her weird head?

Bad figure construction really sneaks up on me, so as you see here, I have to occasionally delve into basic figure stuff to make sure I'm not letting anatomical impossibilities occur underneath my dense shadows.

Anyways while these are pretty tame and inspired by a bit of Samus and Cammy from Street Fighter, I generally don't post "Gym Colonel" sketches around TOO publicly.  I want the audience to enjoy her as she is in the book first before they get a *cough* "Metroid Good Ending" version of her.

I like these! They are sexy! Really good anatomy drawing, very impressive. I found her beret wasn't too difficult to draw, since I've always liked drawing hats and fashion in general. But her face was very difficult to draw, because it's so oddly shaped. I hope everybody gets a gym bunny to mount on their walls. I know I want one. :)

Really good job on the digitigrade legs too. Those can be hard to draw.

She makes me think "So this is what Judy Hopps would look like if she went to the special forces instead of ZPD"

The Mortal Kombat theme keeps playing in my head when l look at these.

Garrett Simpson

Very fun! She's a lean, mean butt kicker!
