Hey y'all! Please if you can, watch all of this video!
THIS IS OUR DUE DILIGENCE BEING DONE.
This will provide you with a detailed update / answer questions some of you guys have had regarding the future of LKTV x Patreon, and I'm excited to announce that as of May 1st, everything will be on our new website:
lktv.au
which is now LIVE!
I don't want to write too much of an essay as the video explains it all and I'll likely write another update post at some point, but here are the main takeaways:
- Please make sure to unsubscribe from the Patreon by the 30th of April, 2023. From the 1st of May, all content will be uploaded SOLELY to the website alone, and Patreon will become one giant redirection to the website. If you cancel your Patreon subscription even now, then you will still receive full access to content until April 30th.
- For the month of APRIL, I will continue uploading our regular weekly contents over here as normal, so if Patreon has autocharged you for this month already, you'll still receive all the benefits as normal. I will ALSO be uploading the same content on the same days at the same time on the website too as well as migrating all other previous content. The website is currently having content migrated so alerts are indeed alerting but if you'd like to be around for it, then feel free!
- IF you would like to become a first member on the website in April but have already paid for Patreon this month then feel free, but do just keep in mind if you do so, then you'd be double charged for both Patreon and the website - I can't offer refunds if you decide to move to the website but are already paying for Patreon this month. Applying refunds for 1000+ people would be impossible, so do so at your own discretion ❤️
- There are new tiers on the website and better pricepoints! On the website, there are now 5 different tiers, all of which I think will suit the needs of all of us a little better.
🆕 'All-Star' Tier: $6 USD (includes everything the moon tier does here)
🆕 'K-Star' Tier: $4 USD (includes ALL and ONLY K-Pop content - no animes or dramas)
🆕 'D-Star' Tier: $4 USD (includes ALL and ONLY K-Drama related content)
🆕 'A-Star' Tier: $4 USD (includes ALL and ONLY Anime related content)
🌌 'Cosmos' Tier - still Cosmos tier lmao. Still $15, nothing has changed but apparently is cheaper than Patreon because no VAT.
I noticed that some people had wanted this for a while in feedback forms and also since we started regularly doing more of these contents, I felt this would be a really good idea. More flexibility, and of course if you want 2 tiers (K + D for example), then All-Star is cheaper. Kind of like buy 2, get 1 free.
Some last things:
- As far as security is concerned, this website is powered by a membership creation platform called FourthWall. They utilise the same security measures in storing of patron/member data - I can only see when people subscribed, their emails in case I need to get in touch, but no payment details are viewable by me as these are processed and protected by 'Stripe'. Stripe is an e-commerce provider many online stores use in tandem with Shopify, etc so payments and those details are as safe as they are here. The only thing I receive is just the payouts as I do normally on Patreon.
- PayPal as a method of payment is currently unavailable. I will have a FAQ page on the site soon addressing things like this, but it will hopefully be available soon. I'm in contact with the developers of that platform trying to get it added as I know some of us use it, but for now the main accepted methods of payment for subscriptions are Credit/Debit (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX) & Apple Pay / Google Pay. This membership platform launched only recently, so PayPal shouldn't be too far away.
- Finally, regarding the video sharing situation, last month we ran into copyright issues over here with certain contents starting to be struck. It might seem isolated right now, but eventually ALL PATREON PAGES for other creators may be at risk to copyright strikes as Patreon moves towards becoming liable for all videos uploaded through its native player.
- In order to futureproof ourselves and also make sure nothing happens, on the new website there are some cool changes I've implemented, but Dropbox HAS to be one of them. I've tried 8 different cloud sharing services over the last few days, all of which have been inconsistent across multiple devices, browsers or even have traffic limits, and this severely impacts your ability to watch and enjoy content.
- SO, on the new website, regular shows like TXT's 'To Do', Enhypen's 'EN-O'Clock', (basically group specific reality / variety content) for example, will be posted directly to the site as YouTube embeds. You'll never see these videos on any channel as they're 'unlisted', but the quality of these will be GOOD.
- Dropbox will be reserved for anime, Korean survival shows, and also K-dramas, but I'll be uploading these in parts like I used to (no Dropbox file will be over 1 hour long because this is when they start messing up), and this should work. For album listens, music show stream VODs, concerts, etc, these will all be in the native website player which is also really GOOD.
So Dropbox is unavoidable, but I'll be changing how I film, upload and edit to make these videos easier to watch.
Either way, I hope this all makes sense, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask them down below! Once again, please make sure to read all of this and heed the necessary time / grace periods, and I'll see you soon for our regularly scheduled Sunday content! ❤️
Love ya!
