So aespa is a perfect example of why I’ve become so engrossed in kpop over the 7 years or so. Obviously they’re extremely talented performers but it’s so much more than that…..it’s the way kpop artists become so immersed it whatever variety/reality show or interview they happen to be doing. I completely understand that they each (all idols, not just aespa) have this persona they’ve cultivated over the course of their training & we normally see that, & I get that. But it’s the shows like this when you can actually get a glimpse of the “real” personalities of these idols & it’s just something you don’t really see with most western artists. I mentioned in your Next Level reaction on YT that I’ve not been fully vibing with their music but it kind of doesn’t matter because like pretty much all idols they’re so much more than just the singing, dancing & rapping! I don’t know if makes sense to anyone else….not even sure I’m explaining it well. I guess the bottom line is this….there are some groups who’s music I love, some that I enjoy & some that just doesn’t do it for me but I honestly can’t think of one gg that I wouldn’t sit down & watch them on a variety or reality show & not be completely consumed & entertained…..whether or not I listen to their music.
