Haha, the self produced thing. No, they aren't ENTIRELY self produced, that'd be crazy, especially for a debut group/album. But they all do have writing and composing credit for a majority of these songs in the debut album! In fact, Ponzona (apparently, along with Skip Skip, and Period) were written by them for trainee evaluation tests. Imagine their surprise when RBW CEO told them they were using Ponzona as their debut title track! Even now (we joke how), all of Mamamoo's title tracks have had their CEO's hand in it (Kim Dohoon is a songwriting legend) but for him to let their newest rookie group write/compose most of their songs. Incredible! Btw, there's a video for the Intro: Crown, and it 100% blends so well with the MV version of Ponzona (with the dance break. The studio/album versions rarely ever has the dance breaks unfortunately...). Also, Skip Skip has a performance showcase version! And yeah, most of the lines have gone to Swan and Goeun for now (though actually, it's early so a few of those lyric videos did have mistakes. And pretty sure Can We Talk Again was ONLY Swan, Goeun, Chaein, and Yuki. And Chaein raps in SS, and the album version of MHSAB has Swan in it taking a chunk of Goeun's lines), but hopefully we see a better distribution in the future. Thing is, if that's the worst thing we can complain about this debut, it's definitely something RBW can easily fix. This album is so damn solid. They're a damn strong contender for ROTY, for sure!

Really enjoying the album! A couple of thoughts... First, I think when people are saying the album is self produced they might be a little confused. I could be mistaken but I don’t believe they actually sat at the mixing board & literally “produced” the record. They did “produce” a lot of the content & I think that may be where the confusion lies. Swan even said in an interview that she was shocked that the album producers like Ponzona enough to make it the title track. That’s not to take away from anything the girls did because they are all clearly very talented beyond singing, dancing & rapping! Each member has at least 1 writing or composing credit on the album & Yuki has 6...they only song she doesn’t have a credit on, I believe, is the intro. Here’s the really crazy thing, Swan with some help from Go Eun & Yuki wrote Ponzona as a training evaluation song & as mentioned above, the producers liked it so much they chose it as the tt! I think she was 16 (or just turned 17) at the time! Like wtaf! Talent!!! I love Yuki’s flow too bro! And she just jumps off the screen whenever she appears! Her charisma is off the charts.....good lord she is definite bias material! As far as the album itself, I really like it! My favorite track is Skip Skip followed by Can We Talk Again, it’s such a hauntingly beautiful song. I like Ponzona but if I’m being honest I thought it was a pretty safe choice. That’s not to take anything away from it, it’s a great song but it’s somewhat predictable in its follow through..You even said yourself you need to listen mor3 to some of the b sides because they so unpredictable. I really hope that’s the direction they’ll keep going. As a debut song Ponzona was a good choice because it did highlight the vocals I know you just briefly touched on line distribution & this is their debut but it is something they should work on. Other than Skip Skip, the LD on the whole album is markedly unfair. Even on that song Jieun got less than 10 seconds. And yes, My Heart Skip a Beat was a little better also but Swan wasn’t part of that one, and even then I think she has more lines than Jieun & Chaein 🤣 Hell, Jieun, Ireh & Dosie didn’t have a single line in Can We Talk Again! And I know Go Eun & Swan have a lot of writing credits but if you use that as your criteria (G)I-dle should be called Soyeon & the Idle-ettes! Like I said it’s just something they should strive to improve on. Overall the albums really good & honestly, with their debut this year on top of Stayc, Secret Number, Wooh!ah!, Bling Bling (do not sleep on them), aespa, Weeekly, Cignature & Lunarsolar, last year, the future of kpop girl groups looks very bright....& exciting & interesting! And upon further review, yup, Yuki is my bias....there’s really no reason for me to think on it any longer!

Ok sorry, I kind of repeated most of your thoughts but I was busy writing my comment wasn’t paying attention 🤣 but yeah, I’ve heard & read pretty much everything you did.

Amazing debut album! I do want to clarify that some of the lyric videos are wrong. At the end of the day thats no big deal tho. The line distribution is definitely still a bit iffy. Hopefully it improves in the future. I think Dosie and Ireh (especially Dosie) still stands out a lot in Ponzona with their dancing. Jieun is the one I'm most worried about tbh. Anyway! My fav song on the album is Period. Skip Skip is close but Period being worked on by all members just makes it feel extra special to me <3 I'm so proud of them. It doesn't feel real that they've debuted after waiting on them for 2+ years :') Can't wait to see what they do next!

Yesss I totally agree! I can't wait to see what they do next and I think they're just going to absolutely kill it going forward!
