I had a little bit of a laugh during the flashback because in the original Sanji is skin and bones after starving for weeks while the kid here does not exactly look starved. But getting a kid to actually starve themselves or using expensive CGI for such a short scene would be a waste so it's understandable. They did nail the scene in terms of acting though. Also, Luffy calling Zoro's sword (Wado Ichimonji) the One eyed itchy monkey had me rolling. He almost had it.

Sanji's backstory is probably one of the hardest hitting among thr Straw Hats because not only did he got stranded to starve for almost 3 months, but before any of that he was abused by his shitty dad Judge and his Germa brothers. Sanji's really had it rough, that backstory was done spectacular. Also when Nami was reading Noland The Liar and City if Gold I popped because that's all related to Sky Island and that's my favorite arc in the series. You should have your wife watch the live action, lots of people who don't know One Piece the anime were able the story through the live action. 8 episodes that tell about 45 anime episodes so it's a nice tradeoff for a first timer. I would be down to see you guys react to the first episode together, I think she would like it especially because of the costumes and sets.
