Camera guy be revealed to be Tsurumi was a huge holy shit moment when this first came out because you couldn't really recognize him prior to his reveal. It also gives you a deep look into his mentality. He dedicated pretty much his whole life to serving the Japanese military, as an undercover agent and then on the front lines, even losing his wife and child in the process (I doubt he had no feelings for them) and then getting his face blown off. So when the government basically decided to neglect the Soldiers and their families after having put them through the meatgrinder it's not a surprise that he decided to direct his energy into a new cause, creating his own new mini nation. Because otherwise all of his sacrifice and efforts would have been for nothing.
