I remember being a bit annoyed at Darton for arresting Yukino and Lucy, but I see it more from his side. He's afraid of the ramifications of using such untested magic. If he keeps Lucy and Yukino locked up, then no one can use the gate. I do genuinely believe he'd allow and even vouch for their release after the tournament ends. Arcadian meant well, but he was arrogant to think his plan was perfect. There are too many variables he cannot account for. I do feel bad for Froche and Sting. The fight vs Natsu and Gajeel probably humbled the two dragon slayers.

Changing the past that far back is insane. I can understand people wanting to go back a year to save a loved one or something. But changing 400 years of history is insane. Literally 99.9% of people alive today would never have been born. Hell, if you go back and mess with your own past, and change your parents schedule on the day they conceived you, they might not get pregnant, or a different sperm might have won the race!
