The Abyssal Drink

Fucking onion ninjas came after me for both this episode and the last and i already cried for them on my first viewing. The build up has been many arcs in the making and there was a lot of pain to accompany it but here we are with a smile in the end. Momo has one of if not the best development showcases in story telling. It's been only months since his father and mother died and he was thrust into a roll of leadership while witnessing the 20 year aftermath of it all. He put on the airs but was still a child and of course cried and constantly doubted himself. And yet he did not dishonor his parents. Kaido gave him the chance to live and he proudly presented his name. He sacrificed 20 years of growth so that he could be of use. He bit Kaido. He stopped onigashima from falling. He claimed the title of Shogun of his own accord. I don't know about you but Im not sure I could have done the same if I was eight. The Momo we first met on punk hazard is not the same that we see now and it's a sight to behold. Oden has nothing to be ashamed of. Also I love Hiyori, she cute as fuck. We have a bit more wano left but we are essentially in the final saga as Oda put it and Curtis, my guy, let me say that Oda has been cooking nothing but fire ever since Kaido's defeat. The pieces are falling into place and the picture puts a smile on my face, no cursed fruit required.

I can only imagine what must be going through those people's minds. Orochi and Kaido are dead and they can finally wake up from the nightmare that has plagued them. It must especially be such an alien thought to the kids who've only ever known the tyranny brought by Kaido's followers. Luffy truly is the liberator and now Momo can assume his rightful place as Shogun of Wano. RIP to all of those who did not live to see this day both real and in the show itself: Kozuki Oden, Shogun of Wano Kozuki Toki, Wife of Oden, mother of Hiyori & Momonosuke The Wife of Hyogoro King Baum, The Tree Homie King Pound of Toto Land, father of Lola and Chiffon Captain Pedro of The Mink Tribe Daimyo Shimotsuke Yasuie Akazya Nine member Ashura Doji Unofficial Akazaya Nine member Izo And the thousands of Samurai and Minks who died fighting this war. As you alluded to that now moving forward there are still tons of things waiting outside of Wano: Blackbeard Shanks Mihawk Buggy Garp Akainu / Captain Magma The Five Elders The Final Villain, Imu Dragon The build up for all those things are about to begin as we are about to begin the Final Saga. Like I mentioned before Gear 5 vs Kaido was just the catalyst to the crazy rollercoaster we are about to witness.

a little funfact about momo's speech. despite his new physical age, he's still a child on the inside, and, at least from what the translators said, you can tell by the way he speaks. it isn't fully conveid in the subs, but in the original japanese he only uses very short and simple sentences and very basic grammar, showing that while he has the body of an adult, he still has the mind of a child and still struggles with more complex concepts. also, i'm not sure if it ever was pointed out to you before, but the text on tama's parent's grave reads as kurozumi. yes, tama is from the same family as orochi and the traitor kanjuro, as indicated by her trademark kurozumi clan purple hair. this also hints at the fact that the reason her parents are dead is because they fell victim to the same kurozumi hunt that got kanjuro's parents killed. let's hope momo actually does something about that in the future. whith the people only having even more reason to hate the kurozumis after what orochi did, it would be really sad to see tama get swept in all that bs she has absolutely nothing to do with.

Everyone always forgets about Smoker but Oda has to have something important planned for him. I mean it's been over two decades since he followed luffy into the grand line (real world time) and we have never really seen him fight. Yet Oda always reminds us he exists every few years.
