Bane is smart, he saw how useful Obi Wan was during the tests and wouldn't want to lose a good team mate before a dangerous mission. Doesn't mean he won't kill him later but that's different heh.

I thought that they were all going to fight to the death, then I remembered that children are supposed to be able to watch this and it probably would have pissed parents off if Star Wars suddenly turned into Battle Royal.
