This was one of the very rare times Michael acted like a boss. Remember lad no matter how insane Michael can be he's still the boss of everyone there. If it were any other person in his seat, he would have fired at least half of the people in that office. Stanley included, because if Stanley kept the same attitude with any other boss that wasn't Michael, he would have been fired. Even if it's questionable at times Michael really cares for all his employees. That's why he cried when Stanley insulted him. I've personally never hated Michael. He's like that one friend who you love but doesn't connect his brain with his tounge.

It’s because Michael’s character is built around a narcissistic boss who thinks his employees are also his best friends and expects the relationships with everyone to be in that way. It’s exactly why everyone else in the office is more relaxed in the environment. If they had a different style management, they wouldn’t at all be the way they are. They basically think Michael is a joke and perceive the work place as so. At the end of the day, they are just there to work. Especially when you look at Stanley’s character. He’s just there to work, not be friends with Michael. This episode more so was an eye opener to Michael’s character on not everyone is there to be his friend but to only work

I'm 100% with Stanley besides him backing down at the end. Michael should never be in charge of anyone or anything. He should have never been promoted out of sales. Employees act how their boss let's them. You can see it at any job. Most employees will only due what their boss gets on them for the only difference is sales who have a commission incentive. It's Michael's fault they goof around and slack off.
