Walt and Jesse are definitely going in opposite directions. And unfortunately the luck seems to be more on Walt side than Jesse. And it seems that divide is only going get further and further.

Walter is getting a taste for how the underworld works and its slowly corrupting him. He was entirely unfair to Gretchen and he's feeding a falsehood to his own family. I get your disgust with his actions, I felt the same way. Jesse has always been a generally decent human being, just a junkie delinquet who screws up a lot as well. He's not evil or malevolent and he takes no pleasure in hurting others and has that big bro energy. Jesse is someone who could be somthing amazing, but he just keeps making all the wrong choices. I feel for both of them, but my sympathy for Jesse is larger than it is for Walter.

I know rationally I should despise Walt but for the most part I don't. He was a scumbag to Gretchen here and even if he walked away from greymatter it's gotta eat at him and has been for decades seeing Elliot and Gretchen making millions while you teach at a high-school. Walt wants to be big time and to do that he needs that attitude. I just feel bad for Jesse and the way Walt treats him. Despite all of that no matter how many times I've seen this show its hard to see anything else besides Hal from Malcom in the middle
