I think there's an interesting distinction to be made between Natsu and Luffy, Luffy has what i like to call shonen protag syndrome, except his case is to the extreme where he'll risk life and limb if you just offer him a plate of food. Natsu is a bit different though, he cares deeply about his friends in the guild, his family really, but doesn't give much of a shit about anyone else at all. We've seen it a few times where even people hes supposed to be helping he doesn't show much interest in unless they're in mortal danger. It kinda puts him above the generic protag in that sense for me cuz hes very hyperfocused on his own people, i think it makes him a lot more realistic and relatable than Luffy, which is quite ironic as well because, Natsu is supposed to be the heroic type, being in a guild that helps people yet he really only cares about the guild, whereas Luffy is supposed to be an asshat given that he's a lawless pirate, but acts like superman.
