That junker certainly leaves a lot to be desired, but Obi Wan had so much faith in Anakin because, another detail you wouldn't know from the movies, Anakin is renowned the galaxy over as quite possible the best pilot currently alive today, and some even go so far as to call him the greatest that ever lived. Imagine how easy that final scene you watched today would've been if he was flying a ship that actually worked lol

2 things: 1st is that according to pre-Disney lore it’s stated that Obi Wan is Thee best at the Defensive Form of Lightsaber Combat and 2nd is that Anakin grew up as a slave on Tatooine who made C3P0 out of scraps he found in Junkyards. So it’s safe to say that Obi Wan has a bit of skill to him and Anakin kinda knows his was around machines.
