I think you really hit the nail on the head with how many shades of grey there are, i once said theres really no ultimate good vs ultimate evil story in Magi and i think this arc really exemplifies that. Leam wants to protect their own by absorbing magnosthattd before Kou does, Kou wants to unify the world cuz Kouen wants to stop it from falling apart due to having too many rulers, Magnosthattd just wants to create a country where mages are free and equal, yet each has its own counter balance of the old man discriminating against non mages, the kou empire being heavily influenced by the organization and leam being too reckless and driven by emotion by scherezade. Theres so many ways this could go! On an unrelated note to that, i forgot to mention last episode but i think the fanalis dudes Djinn equip, Barbatos, has my favorite design. Something about white and silver really appeals to me.
