So the canon-ness of these episodes is muggy but the general consensus of the fandom is this: everything that happened in the past is real but the straw hats obviously in canon never go to the festival like in the movie as well as all the events of that movie involving other characters its the same with Shiki from strong world movie, he really existed, he escaped impel down, fought many powerful people in rogers generation but he never takes over an island and steals nami like in strong world

Ewww filler! How dare! I jest. I am curious if they'll add Uta to the main series though. She'd be a nice addition. Edit: That fruit Shanks was secreting away from Uta was the fruit Luffy will eventually eat :P

So a few things regarding this episode: As mentioned few times, Uta is a canon character and she’s Shanks daughter. > Shanks crewmates; We’ve seen them a few times including in some openings: Benn Beckman - Shanks’s right hand man. He’s always by his side Lucky Roo - The fat guy with the green stripe shirt Yasopp - Usopp’s dad They’re like the Zoro/Sanji/Usopp of the Red Haired Pirates > Shanks old bounty was shown in the segway Shanks old bounty - 1.04 Billion Shanks current bounty - 4.048 Billion And Shanks has only been an Emperor for 6 years in the present time. So when he met Luffy he was still a ‘regular’ pirate. > This is the youngest we’ve ever seen Luffy. At this time he didn’t know Shanks, Ace, or Sabo. He only knew his grandpa Garp, yet it’s interesting to see how Luffy speaks about freedom and wanting to do something big with his life. > In the beginning of One Piece, when Luffy was gathering his crew he kept saying that he always wanted a musician to join. Now we know why he always had said that because of his friendship with Uta and Shanks mentioned pirates and singing go well together. That’s a little Easter Egg. > The Gum Gum Fruit Lastly you won’t recall this but back on Episode 4, during the Luffy/Shanks flashback Lucky Roo said that they stole the Gum Gum fruit from the ‘enemy ship’…What enemy? So in this episode when Shanks was looking at the Gum Gum Fruit, it was a very ominous scene. Shanks was standing all alone and then immediately closed the chest when Uta came by. It’s as if Shanks knows something more than we the audience know ourselves. It’s as we’re theorizing that Shanks is 50/50 plotting something behind the scenes. > Film Red Lastly if you want to see more of the relationship between Luffy, Uta, and Shanks then you got to watch the Film Red movie. It was out in theaters during this past fall. It should be coming out on DVD/streaming sometime late June. It’s a really good movie, with lots of Uta singing and Shanks plays a bigger role than usual.
