Awesome backstory episode! This show is Yuge on continuity and lore building. Prof. Phantomos points out Billy's robot hand and asked if it was based on a Mike Sorayama design. Mike was the Asian guy in the funeral episode who built the Leslie-Bots. The guy who gave Brock his new assignment of being the Venture bodyguard, who then puts on a Guild of Calamitous Intent ring, becomes the supervillain, Sgt. Hatred, who we've seen before and becomes a more prominent character. Speaking of prominent characters, we'll be seeing a lot more of Shoreleave, and you will love him!

OSI is based on GI Joe, Hunter Gathers is based on Hunter S. Thompson, and Shoreleave is based on the GI Joe character "Shipwreck" who was popular in the 80s reboot of GI Joe. And I think you noticed the Race Bannon cameo (Johnny Quest's bodyguard, who is called Red Bannon on this show). The show is going to get dense with universe building, in-universe history, and even bureaucracy; but the bureaucracy is actually one of the best parts of the show, because it's simultaneously ridiculous, yet makes sense when you consider how superheroes and supervillains tend to interact in comic books. But this show is rich with lore...so pay close attention.
